PlayStation 4 Pro in-bound

MS need to be back on their game after they messed up with the Xbox One but Scorpio is still on paper, MS can say all the bells and whistles they want but we have no physical hardware and wont for a year at least.

If Nintendo came out next week and said "NX will be more powerful than the PS4 Pro" I bet people would still laugh at Nintendo because they haven't showed any hardware.

I'm amazed how easy Microsoft have been able to put out all this information about Scorpio with such little scrutiny. The hardware not existing makes a huge difference. Can they make it affordable? How will it deal with heat? Will it fit into a living room? Will 6 tflop look much different to 4.2? Will it run ok with occurs? Will they have the third party support to make their games look even better than they do on ps4 pro?

These are all the questions I am asking too. They rushed out the 360 and look what happened hardware wise in the first 2 years due to the chipset heat.

Nice to see the third parties stepping up to enhance games. More, please! :D

This is The Witness -

When playing on a PS4 Pro, two modes will be available, depending on the telly you're using.

If you have a 4K TV, The Witness renders at 1440p or possibly higher, while keeping a consistent 60 frames per second. This image is then upscaled to 4K. Text, menus and other user interface features are native 4K.

If you have a telly that is 1080p or lower, the game renders at 1080p instead of the old 900p, with increased antialiasing quality from 2x to 4x MSAA, again while keeping a solid 60 frames per second.

What I want is for the PS4 Pro to not just notice 1080p and 4k screens/ monitors.

For example, I have a 1440p monitor with HDMI. In the case of the witness it would be awesome if it just ran at 1440p. Instead I expect I will get the 1080p version upscale to 1440p...

I just checked what CEX give you for a boxed PS4 and it's £136 cash right now which I think is pretty impressive for a cash buy store, I think that might have convinced me to upgrade, although I would most probably have to sell it now before that figure drops significantly.

So if you have a 2560 x 1440 monitor and you plug in a Ps4 Pro what would happen?

Would I be able to play games up scaled to 1440p?

Or would they default to 1080p?

If you're not bothered about being tethered to one store, you could get Game to price match their trade in value giving you a bit more.

The negativity surrounding this announcement has to be a wind up?

It's a £350 box that makes games look amazing on a 4k TV (according to people who have actually seen it) and better on a 1080p screen. What is there to be negative about?

If you stick a UHD player in the price goes up right?

Because people were expected a 4K gaming console but anyone who have been following the industry knows this wasn't possible.

I prefer dedicated players anyway. Never felt right using control pads as remotes.
Yeah...I recall using DVDs rewind and fast forwaring with r1+l1 wasn't too bad though

I'm just waiting for the old ps4s to be nice and cheap second hand now.
sub £200 new when the slim and pro are out maybe? £150ish second hand?

If there's a decent trade in deal for the slim I might bite on that aswell lol
don't think they'd take mine not got the warranty stickers anymore, although it'd be out of warranty anyway
