**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

Oh shizz so it is. I just remember you have to do it the nova way and didn't properly look for it. Anyway it's made the UX a lot better for me.

I know it's been mentioned before but I just did the Nova DPI condensed trick on the S7E - Oh its so much better now

http://www.androidauthority.com/samsung-galaxy-s7-dpi-scaling-setting-680736/.

This setting is baked into the settings on the Note 7.

I was running mine like that, but I've gone back to standard again... I felt it just made things that little too small, so if I was tapping things I'd quite often hit the wrong thing. Standard is much more finger friendly (and easier to read).

Since installing the September update (regular S7) my phone has been soft-rebooting fairly regularly, and I'm getting a lot of "Unauthorized actions have been detected" security notifications. Anyone else experiencing the same?

I bought my Edge from Samsung direct and it worked fine with an O2 sim card, the moment I go abroad and put my local sim in it request network pin code and says network locked sim card inserted. I've contacted my network and they have no idea, any clues?

Aaaaaand now my phone is bricked. Well, the screen won't come on and it won't respond to pressing any buttons/plugging in a charger, but I believe it is still on as it is getting hotter and hotter (it's currently sitting in my bathroom sink in case it decides to create an indoor bonfire).

Rather annoying as it was running perfectly before installing that update.

whats up with your s7 mate?

Samsung Smart Switch

All the best with that :(

I mentioned in the Note 7 thread that I sent my S6 Edge+ to Samsung 11 days ago and was told at the weekend that the part they needed won't be available for at least another 2 weeks, I was very tempted (and still am) to just go and buy an S7E to tide me over then sell either it or Edge plus when it eventually returns.

The repair centre at least sent me an email this morning saying they were doing all they could for the time being but they have just been snowed under with all the Note 7 issues.

Myshra answered the exact same question for me regarding back up - Helium for android is a great app - you'll probably see the thread for it.

Samsung SmartSwitch for Android and pc, then initiate the full backup.

Alternatively you can just run it on the phone and create a backup on the sd card of its big enough.

Sorry just seen this, i went through the house insurance as i cracked the screen, contacted them today and they said a technician looked today and its beyond economical repair (was only cracked at the bottom of the screen) they now told me to contact them monday for a replacement or cash settlement, i seem to think it will be the latter.

If so, do i get a Note 7 (revised one) or another S7 Edge hmm..

Did you need to show them proof of purchase ?

What happens if you press and hold the power + volume down button for 30 seconds?

Just had to go and buy a tablet so I can fly my P3P as the latest samsung update causes the DJI GO app to reboot the phone whenever it's connected.

Along with the few other bugs I'm getting I think I'm starting to regret getting this phone.

Fortunately it wasn't bricked after all. As I suspected the phone was still on, but must have frozen hence not responding to pressing buttons/plugging in the charger. Eventually it ran the battery down and then switched off. After that I was able to charge it and then turn it on as normal.

Thanks for the suggestion though, if it does it again (not entirely unlikely) then I'll give that a go.

Not having a good experience with Samsung Support

Popped into my local Samsung Experience Service Centre 2 weeks ago due to my charge port being bit temperamental on my S7 Edge (bought June 2016)

They took it in for repair after ripping off my front and back screen protectors :/

Seems the Tech Support Desk is ran by CPW as i got CPW paper work with the repair summary and track online job number

I called CPW last week for an update who told me i needed to to contact Samsung, so contacted Samsung direct who told me the Store uses a different system and i needed to contact them - not a good start

I popped into the store today as i was in town and getting concerned ive not heard anything, they said they were still waiting for parts to arrive from Samsung. However, they do a 28 day SLA in which they have to replace the phone if they cant fix it in time.

Looking online and watching Jerry Rig's teardown videos it seems the charge port is directly attached to the front screen of the S7 Edge and it will also need to be swapped so i wonder if this is the reason for the delay - costly repair!

https://youtu.be/IZU9U72OU5s?t=3m28s

anyway, 2 weeks waiting is really unacceptable in this day and age, especially for a flagship model phone, props to Apple for having an awesome replace on the spot policy, im seriously going off Samsung because of this.

Lets see what happens this week...

That's interesting I never knew that, is that a generic rule with Samsung for all phones under warranty?
I wrote previously on this thread that my Edge+ is currently away for repair and it's been 18 days with no sign of a return in sight - same excuse with me that they haven't got the parts for repair in stock.

That's what the guy told me, I've not actually read it on any site though

Was yours bring fixed by cpw or Samsung direct ?

Samsung direct.

Phone was collected by UPS and taken to their service repair centre in Belfast.

I was actually almost certain they'd give me a replacement but they seem fairly keen to repair.

Picked another up in Black this time, had a screen protector ready for this but its absolutely garbage i really need some recommendations..
