*** The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Thread ***

I've heard rumors this morning that Samsung are considering "bricking" devices after the 30th of September to force the return of the Note 7.

I can't quantify if there is any truth to this at all. but with my PIN issues yesterday, it wouldn't surprise me...

I've read that they are going to do a mandatory recall, might be announced as soon as today if you believe what is being said.

So this new one is still made in Vietnam but the manufacturing date is now 31.08.2016

Congrats for the shiny brand new one :)
They haven't mistakenly popped a 256GB sd card in there have they? :).. or another wireless fast charger would do

Cheap *******s!

Right that's 22 factory resets done also microwaved the phone to make sure ;)

New phone is out for delivery :)

You are stop number 69 ...He better buy me a drink 1st

Why microwave it?

Lets hope they don't decide to charge for any phones that have been deliberately abused ;)

Just had something pop up on my phone from Samsung. It says:

"Important Information

Your safety is out highest priority, please click on the link below to see an urgent message for all Note7 users".

I've not seen this before, as this isn't a text message or an email....

I don't want to follow the link.... lol

I followed it, seems they still want us to power down our devices and not use them. Ffs Samsung.

Handed me new phone I asked about return he knew nothing about it

LOL - so why are they still advising us to back-up and reset our phones and prepare them for swapping, with clear instructions?

Are they too afraid of receiving this high amount of explosives in their warehouses? :)

I've also read something similar to what gallcroft said, that they would brick the devices through a carrier update in France, starting from 30th Sept.
I think there might be a chance of this happening everywhere which would render them useless even if they don't actually want them back..
Unless you root them by then :)

Call that recall number, tell them it hasn't been collected and they will arrange for one. My collection is being arranged for tomorrow. They will come with packaging, labels, etc. :)
