I'm not a massive fan of bike nights and things like that to be honest, if I'm out I'd rather be riding than looking at bikes I'll never own haha

I can because it's about 40 minutes from my work in Warrington and can have a good blast.

Get a bacon and egg on toast with a coffee for tea, have a look at the bikes for 15 - 20 minutes then shoot off home

Around 90 mile trip and fuel light always comes on from a full tank. Oooppsss..

Oh it was only 3 of us and we all had comparable bikes. My R6, one CBR600RR and a CBR600F. Was damn good fun but at the same time group rides make you ride a bit silly. we said we'd ride carefully on the way back and before you know it we were passing each other doing 100+ on certain roads.

irresponsible, yes. But you can't put a price on the grin I had that day

Luckily my friend who used to ride (well, 4 years on a 125) is currently going through his third CBT and is actually going to get his full license soon and I know he will be up for rides. Just need to talk him out of that ER6N

That all depends on the gearing. On the Aprilias for example they are geared for ~165mph at the red line in top gear.

The Gen2 Tuono is geared for 160+mph in top, which is ridiculous on a naked bike! Hence why -1 and +2 front and back is a popular mod. That's still good for 140mph...

I generally ride on my own, very rarely do group rides - definitely not against the idea though, I'd love to have a regular couple pf mates to ride with, group rides with strangers can be tricky as people ride differently.

Just remembered an overtake of 2 cars I did yesterday: came up behind them, saw a bit of a gap - thought 'that might be a bit tight...' but decided to go for it, I was back on my side of the road a good 5-10 seconds before the oncoming cars had closed the gap :D:p

I think I need to re-adjust my perception of a safe overtaking gap with this Tuono :D

Time to adjust Paul that's all.

Don't do that when going from the tuono to the cb400 :p

How are you getting on with the bike, love it?

Any niggles with the bike you don't like?

Well I did around 160 miles yesterday, all good! Neutral can be little tricky to find, and the suspension was set a bit hard for me, could feel every dimple on the road and big bumps jolted me out the seat - I've gone back to standard settings so will work from there, just need to set the preloaded up front and rear.

I'm gonna be doing a lot of miles on French motorways so the gearing might need a fettle, 80mph indicated (77 actual) is 5100 rpm, but then it's much nicer at slow speed on this gearing. I might stick on a 40 rear supersprox to be in the middle, stock is 16/40, it's on 15/42 at the moment.

I think the Ohlins suspension is a bit stiff at the best of times, they do seem to work better the faster you go though lol. Sub 40mph my bike is very uncomfortable.

Regarding gearing 15 / 42 seems to be the sweet spot for me, I used one of those gearing calculators and 1 - 5 sees about 7mph per gear difference but in 6th it was about 20mph but that doesn't really bother me too much.

Yeah tbh it's perfect through villages etc doing 20-30mph, bimbling along at 2000 rpm, and I think on the original gearing there's an issue with 6th gear being too long for 70mph, 4200 according to gearingcommander.com

I'll keep it as it is for now, I can always just sit at 70mph instead of 80mph on the motorways :D - probably use a lot less fuel that way too!

I'm lucky to get a 100 miles before the light comes on, I might be able to stretch that to 110 if I'm gentle lol
