No doubt there are bad eggs but I firmly believe the primary reason for shootings are:
Contrasting levels of training from one force to another.

Training is an issue. If you compare how long it takes for someone to join the police in the US then in the UK, it's huge. We talking about a few months for someone to join the police, while in the UK it takes two years to fully pass your training.

They don't have a country wide standardise training system.

They don't want smart cops in the force.

How to deal with dogs, every dog that is wagging a tail and full of joyful eyes is a danger to their lives.

How to deescalate a situation, instead in every body cam video you see, they escalate the situation and make it worse, leading to someone getting shot. This is very relevant when someone calls 911 about a family member being suicidal, that family member will get shot and likely killed.

Clearly no first-aid or medical training or a lack of will to provide it, you never see any of them give treatment to someone they just shot but instead make it worse by ignoring them or restrain them still by laying down/pinning them down.

There is a case where a cop phones/texts his union rep to ask if his job is safe after he shot a man.

Indoctrination once they joined, they believe themselves to be above the law and will cover each other, lie for each other and abuse their powers knowing full well, they can almost get away with it, this is likely when the "good apple" will turn bad.

Let's not forgot that most members of the police are ex military, so that background plus the police indoctrination just mixes it all up.

Anyone seen this video? It makes me mad every time I see it. and the reason they stopped him? Because he was wearing headphones while riding a bike.

I honestly think they should follow a example of what a other country did, train up a whole new force and then sack the old. Start with a clean plate but due to the power of their unions, it never happen.

The fact that there was a news chopper (I am assuming) filming the whole thing suggests to me that the shooting incident represented the final moves of a much longer game.

This must have been an pursuit of some sort, otherwise the chopper would not have been on the case!

If I was confronted by four armed policemen I would be stood still like Lots wife with my hands over my head with fingertips interlinked! and only move when I was told to do so. I would not be wandering around and going back to my car with my hands over my head on the grounds that this would make me somehow inviolate.

Either one has to accept that some people really are that dumb, or that there were more complex issues involved.

But if one, when confronted by a US armed Policemen, are uncooperative, abusive, act erratically or make as if to go for a weapon. then one is very likely (Almost certainly) to wind up dead.

Only a dumb person, or a serial criminal, (Or both) would behave in this manner.

They did what they were told, they dropped the gun, they put their hands up and they lay down on the ground when told to do so and that is why they were not killed!

It is the people who are not cooperative who wind up dead. It is not simply because they are Black. (And plenty of uncooperative US white people get killed each year too, but somehow this is not news! ISTR reading recently that the rate of dead white suspects compared to arrests is actually greater than those for Black arrests suggesting that Black suspects, far from being descriminated against, actually already get "Privileged" treatment compared to whitey, (#Whitelivesdontmatter perhaps? )

I remembered the Washington Sniper after I posted, but a search for "black serial killers" came up with a lot of lists "debunking" myths about there not being black serial killers.
