**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

Wife bought me the edge for my birthday lol. Enjoying the camera, it's a godsend compared to the N6.

Ordered vrs case of rainforest, is it worth getting a screen protector? Always had a tempered glass one for the N6.

Don't know what to get for this. I always scratch my phone so would prefer something opposed to nothing.

I see that Samsung have reintroduced the VR offer if you purchase a new S7 Edge.

Wounded bought my 2nd on the 12th exchanged on the 16th.. Sent a copy of my exchange document to them but it shows as an exchange, can't see them honoring it.. Shame they won't honor me buying in the 12th tbh, if it gets knocked back I'll try again with the original reciept and see if there kind enough to send me one.

Ultimate shield.. I've tried a few and the glass are terrible on the edge go for a film like suggested.

On my 2nd S7 (first one developed a camera fault). This one has been crashing the past few days. Infact I thought it was completley borked yesterday because I couldn't turn it back on and the screen went off.

Managed to charge it 6 hours and got it back up and running.

Other that than, great phone :D

Anyone else not able to log into tinder on their s7 edge? Both my mates at work who have an s6 edge can log in fine, mine always says try again later, uninstalled it twice and no change.

keep an eye on that, i had to send one back for it... updated, reflashed firmware etc never fixed it, tended to crash on idle and needed a hard reset to kick it back out

Just wondering, should I expect any updates on how my phone repair is going? I can see from the UPS tracking that they received it but I haven't heard anything from the service department themselves.

Thinking of changing to an S7 Edge. Big step for me as been an iPhone owner since 2010. Just not impressed by Apple's direction with the iPhone 7 though and can't help feeling they peaked a year or 2 back.

Is the transition from iPhone to Android a smooth one in terms of transferring pics, texts, contacts etc? Any possible gotchas I could encounter?

Also, I use my phone for podcasts a great deal. Is there a decent android podcast app that is comparable to the official Apple Podcasts app for iOS? I'm sure the answer must be yes! And is audio quality for listening to music as good/better than with an iPhone? Years ago I tried an android phone and was appalled by the sound quality coming out of my headphones. I'm sure this has changed massively now though and I can't compare a 4+ year old phone to the Edge.

good on ya for wanting to try Android :)

one thing to bare in mind though, how invested are you in the Apple Eco system? as in spent loads on apps etc?

i think the S7 Edge will be a breath of fresh air :)

Not particularly invested tbh. Got an Apple TV I originally bought for AirPlay but over the years modern TVs are all DLNA etc now so AirPlay lost its edge a bit. I have bought a handful of apps on iOS but use mostly free ones. Nothing in way of iTunes video/music content. I do also have a Macbook Air but in all honesty am considering changing that too as I want something like a Surface Pro 4.

Biggest concern is text history (i just like having it), contacts, and pics/videos. From what I have read it sounds straight forward to transfer it all.

cool, i move from iphone to android often but my data has always been on android so the swaps are not that bad

if starting from scratch, try this: https://www.android.com/intl/en_uk/switch/ and http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/how-to-switch-from-iphone-to-android/

and im sure there are loads of guides out there to help you

Thanks will read those.

I currently have a sim only deal with EE for my iPhone 6 Plus. If I was to buy an unlocked S7 Edge outright I guess I'd have no issue just placing the sim card into it from the iPhone?

nope, will be fine :)

if you by brand new you will get 14 days to use it before you can send it back, so its worth a try and see how you get on

not everyone can handle the change, from Apple to Android or Vice Versa

I recently switched to an S7 edge after being an iPhone user since 2008 (though I've tried android devices every other year and switched back).
While I didn't use it personally, the S7 comes with smart switch which will transfer everything over for you: http://www.samsung.com/uk/smart-switch/iphone-hub.html (I think using the desktop/itunes version is the most complete method, as it'll also move your SMS messages).

Can't help with the podcast question unfortunately as I don't listen to them personally. The DAC/headphone output seems comparable to the iPhone, no complaints from me. The bottom speaker quality however is a completely different matter, it is unbelievably bad. Its as if they took the speaker from a novelty musical greeting card and put it in the phone.

I had every Iphone since the 3G right up until the 6s, moved onto a S7 edge when it was released and haven't looked back, won't be returning to Apple either anytime soon. :)

I have just moved to an edge as well after returning my 7+ (hiss gate). The display is far better on the edge and the wireless charging is great but I'm finding the phone more to difficult to use. Still getting all my apps set up in the right places but I hope I get used to them soon.

EDIT: Can't believe the wireless quick charge dock has a fan - lol!

The fan isn't really needed, perhaps a means to justify the cost? Perhaps the Note 7 should have had a fan, too ;)

You will really like the S7 edge once you've got everything set up how you like. Good Lock gives you a stock Android SystemUI look and feel, along with some other nice additions.

Nova Launcher or Action Launcher will give you more customisations and gesture actions than you can count, so well worth purchasing the pro versions of either. Both now have Nougat style pixel launcher app drawer options, which makes them a bit neater still.
