Car crushes. Cars you really wanted but it was never meant to be.

For me it would be a mk2 golf gti, this was *the* car that got me into cars.

I also reeeeeally wanted a Capri but that ship has sailed now.

Others include the GTV Cup (which was briefly affordable for me, but are now silly cash), 205 gti, S2000 and e46 330ci.

Edit: How could I forget the mk2 mr2!? I very nearly bought one instead of my mx5, so out of all my crushes this could be the closest I got. Would love one now to stick in the garage and mollycoddle :)

Sort of did it.... Had a Series 1 Landy instead. :D[/QUOTE]

This nearly got one but double cab, and a slightly different year for 2000Euros but it sold minutes before I contacted the seller. I pass it every day too, it makes me quite upset.

Still want one.

realistically cars I could potentially afford but am put off by running costs or reliability concerns:

Supra TT
Fiat coupe 5pot turbo (are there any of these left that haven't died?)
Evo XII
E36 M3

I would also love to own a DB9 at some point, but outside of winning the lottery I suspect this will never happen.

Erm... Daihatsu Sirion / Subaru Justy / Peroudua Myvi.

Don't know why but I kind of like them. Need more space for a family car. It would just never have been practical ;)

E46 330Ci and E46 M3. Really wanted these after I graduated but insurance and price was just too unrealistic. Settled for a 320Ci in the end and I've now had it 8 years and still going reasonably strong.

Next on the shortlist hopefully in a year or two is an F10 6 pot petrol, 335i or S4.

The E30 more-door chromie carbed 316 in champagne gold which I should have bought instead of my Polo...

I really want a B6 Audi S4 but couldn't bring myself to buy one after reading about the massive timing chain issues... :(

Never came close owning one but still want one. :D

Always wanted an Elise, but as I only have space for 1 car at the moment it would have to be my only car. I don't fancy that in the winter when I have to drive to work in the snow :P

One of the early ones that I always wanted to play with was of all things a Daihatsu charade GTti, I always like the idea of a 1litre 100bhp engine in a shoebox.

More recently (last 3 or 4 years) it's old 911's or the RX8 that I seem to always be hankering after. TBH I just want something new to fiddle with, I keep thinking crazy triple rota rx8 track build weapon, turbo toaster style!

S15 is the one I wanted bad. Had it 3 years, largely has been a nightmare.
Currently would like a tuned FD RX7 but I know it would be twice as much of a nightmare.
S2000 has been a curiosity thing for a while now but I'd probably find it lacking power.

Yeah good ones were north of £5K when I looked last. They've been going up in value over the past few years.

I almost swapped one of the OPs crushes for mine, an E36 M3 SMG evo convertible in oxford green with tan interior and beech wood.

Couldn't find myself brave enough to go through with it, but it remains one of my most lusted after cars.
