just bought a Samsung SSD and thought that you just connected it to a Sata cable and away you go, but according to the instructions you have to connect it to a Sata/USB cable first which didnt come with the drive.
Will I have to buy one of these first or is there a way to install it directly, I will then want to clone my HDD over to it using the included software
Thanks

I'd imagine you only need to do that if your cloning via USB. Pretty sure you clone via an SSD connection.

Edit: Maybe not using the bundled software.

yes I have it connected to Sata and power even swapped the ones that were on the working HHD so I knew those cables were ok, still didnt find it

Reading online it looks like I have connect the SSD with the adaptor cable, run the Magician software to clone my HDD , connect the SSD to power and Sata cables and reboot

Of any use

Or you might just have a duff drive

You don't need adapters. :/

I have 2 Samsung EVO drives connected via bog standard cables.

If running windows 10, the issue might be that's it's not shutting down fully even when you think it's powered off.

Either yank the PSU power for a few seconds or turn off hibernation in windows from an administrator command prompt.

Code:
powercfg -h off

just tried again, went into advanced in the Asus BIOS and it showed up, but not in the EZ mode, installed the migration software and it seems to be copying my HDD to SDD ok

Hopefully it will al be ok when I set the SDD as boot and start up again
Thanks everybody for all the advice
