Verdict, paraffin is **** for cleaning chains! Unless you can take the chain off and soak it, I'll stick to chain cleaner.

I used it yesterday to clean my chain and it was spotless after 30 seconds.

Apply roughly with a toothbrush on all faces, then the use a rag on the chain while spinning the wheel for 10 seconds.

I use Motul MC Care Chain Lube (C2) and Chain Clean (C1). Great stuff. Took me a while to find a lube and cleaner that i liked but have stuff with this for about 2 years now and will continue with it.

In other news. It's ******* cold! 5.5c. Should've worn my necky and winter gloves.

Made the mistake of not putting on my winter gloves this morning, hands were in agony by the time I got to work.

10 miles in I was starting to wish mine would just so the pain would stop, I don't want to have to move to my thick gloves :(

I'm riding down to Brighton next weekend I fear I may even have to plug in my heated gloves for that journey :(

Apart from my hands the rest of me was fine even in my mesh summer jacket :D

Yep was a little chilly this morning, I don't want to have to break out the muffs quite yet!! :(

My alarm on my Tuono went off last night, it does a bleep thing when you disarm it and it tells you the reason, it was the movement sensor.

This was at around 3am, now the alarm stops after 30 seconds, and we have a security light above the bikes which turns off automatically after around 20-30 seconds, the light wasn't on when the bike was checked (20 seconds after the alarm stopped), and the cover was completely untouched, hopefully nothing to worry about...

The bike is down the end of a long driveway, behind my CB400, I can take the cover off the bike without the alarm going off, but move it enough (i.e. forget the alarm is on and push the bike a few inches) and the alarm sounds, so hopefully it was just a false alarm! We do get foxes and cats down our driveway but even if one jumped on it I doubt it would be enough to trigger the alarm.

Your chain was probably a lot cleaner than mine when you started, 30 seconds wouldn't have made any difference on my chain, I used the last bit of chain cleaner I had and it worked a lot better than paraffin.

I started to wonder if I might want to put the linings in my jacket and trousers, or just wear more than a t-shirt on top.

It wasnt too bad for me to I doubt I'll do anything just yet. Mind you my ride is about 15 mins long with the fastest road being 40, but it's one of those 40s that isnt a 40 if you see what I mean

Probably was, I tend to look after the chain well.

While my liberal dose of slime done it's job sealing up my back tyre it also seems to have given me a rather wobbly back end at lower speeds which would make sense considering there's now around 300g worth of goo just sloping around the tyre and as there's only another month or so left in my current one I'm on the hunt for the cheapest price.

My usual place has come back with £152 with on bike fitting for another Angel GT, waiting to hear back from a few others.

I could get the tyre alone for £102 if only I had a car to chuck the wheel in it would probably be all done for £120ish.

Hopefully I'll get to run with one in while there's some dry weather unlike last time, 2 brand new tyres straight out into torrential rain. There were some squeaky bum moments that time!

Edit: Just had one of the local to home garages get back to me £150 just for the tyre!!! Then another £25 to fit it  No thanks Jeff.
