**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

Yep thats what made me uninstall it last time, and I couldn't see a way to change them...

That said, now above people are saying its a battery drainer.

Battery life for me has been fairly average and not that impressive. It was good for about a week or two.

I still not sure how much I really like the phone. The edge function is useless, and even after months of usage, I still find it an awkward thing to use. Not being able to use Chrome isn't the end of the world but wasn't an issue on any other phone I've owned so is annoying in that respect. The fingerprint reader, even after hours of fiddling around is good but not great and gives about a 75% success rate. The phone also lags at times (classic samsung stuff there), and overall isn't really quite as responsive as I feel such a high-end device should be and the keyboard just went mental on me before.

Lots of little things adding up to what for me isn't a particularly satisfying experience for a top of the range phone. However, 2016 hasn't been a great year for phones, so what are the alternatives? I wish my Z3 hadn't started playing up...

That's the one, thanks.

Next question: Do you have a way around things like email subjects being almost impossible to read?

They did fix this in the last update, but in turn it became laggy, hence the hottfix release, which made the hard to read colour come back!

I've sent a bug report for it, let's see if they fix it in the next update./ White cards for now though, which is fine and stock-like :p

I have not seen any battery drain since the hotfix release at all. It's like 2% if even that after a day on battery.

Have Samsung improved with their software update procedures? When is Nougat due?

How many updates do Samsung historically deliver? For example the 5x should see Android 8. Will the S7?

Looking for an upgrade to my Nexus 5. The Pixel was that upgrade but way too expensive.

So now it's Stick with Nexus 5, get a 5x at £200 or get a S7 at £490.

My last Samsung device was an S2.

The biggest feature for me is regular software updates. Now that I have used a Nexus for the past 3 years I'm way too used to receiving my updates when Google announce them.

Usually a few months after which suits me as all the apps that tend to not work on the latest version are generally updated by then.

Gents, after the disapointment that is Google Pixel I'm looking at swapping from my iPhone 6s to the Samsung S7 (non edge!) after deciding between the S7 and the HTC 10.

Is it still worth buying? I know it seems to be best out on the market at the moment but is there anything coming on the horizon that's worth waiting for?

Bought 2 s7 edge recently, one to firstly replace the missus xperia z1 and one to replace my xperia z2

It's a cracking phone, 4hr 50min screen on time (used 2 hours straight as a work timer) and only now at 39%

I didn't expect any phone to beat the z2 I had

Were both using an all over plastic case, covers back and screen... I hate it, any suggestions on a case and screen protector?

Mine is weird on battery. At first it was easily as good if not better than my Z3, then after a week or so, its solid but not spectacular and definitely not as good as the Z3. This week, it seems better again. I don't know whats changed (not had an update or anything). It kind of points towards a dodgy app but I've never noticed anything untoward.

Got myself a Tronsmart Chocolate today and it's brilliant. Think I'll get another for the bedroom.

Good isn't it? It's flat enough that you could turn it into a stand based one by buying a cheap eBay phone stand and sticky-back taping it to the back.

Strange problem with my notifications.

I used to have "new emails" appear on the home-screen, no vibration/tone.

Now, if i have notifications for emails on they vibrate, i can't "mute" that alert so am stuck with all or nothing. Am i missing something?

How do you mean would show up on your homescreen? Do you have a widget showing emails or something?

Yeah it's super. Not sure if they've brought out a newer model but I've found I barely have to change the placement of my phone after putting it down.
