The next UKIP leader thread

I've been watching BBC News and the presenter has spent best part of 15mins trying to get the guy involved in the rumoured altercation to admit he punched him, it's more like an interrogation than an interview.

The news is embarrassing these days.

Stop watching it uk news is pure bs these days.

Time might fly but you must be pretty slow on the uptake

I am not too keen on becoming a social justice warrior, pandering to every new perceived sleight, wondering if some petulant kid is going to be "offended" by some dated word or phrase.

As a matter of curiosity I asked a small group of people in the pub last night if the expression "half caste" would be seen by them as offensive. Only 1 out of 15 even considered it could be in the least offensive, and that one was later chucked out for demanding the news with Donald Trump featured be turned off. He was last seen tucking his braids into his woolly hat, out of the rain, and vaping down the alleyway opposite.

That says a lot about you and your social clique.

You asked 15 mixed-race people, right? Not just a bunch of people who've never had this term thrown at them?

If you actually believe he asked 15 mixed race people 'down the pub' you're very gullible imho.
I don't believe a word of it and think his lying through his teeth, Shropshire is 98% white so the likelihood of finding 15 mixed race people in a single pub is questionable at best!!

98% of Shropshire's population is classified as being in a 'white' ethnic group. This was reduced from 98.8% in 2001, though this is still higher than the England and Wales average of 85.9%. 'Asian' or 'Asian British' ethnic groups have the next largest number of people in Shropshire with 1% of the population

I love how you reduce your ignorance and casual racism to a 'petulant kid'.

The meanings of words and phrases change. That you see this as another opportunity to dig at the Social Justice Warriors you hate so much says an awful lot about you.

In the real world, most people would just realise that it's not really an ok term to use anymore.

Plus like in many of the case's with racists he lives in an area that is almost PURE white
Ignorance and fear of the boogeyman!!

I asked 15 random people who just happened to be in the lounge, 3 I knew well, the rest either strangers or just "faces you see about". I have the feeling I am on a hiding to nothing with this, it was a small country pub, not some cosmopolitan multi culti affair :)

My bad I thought you had actually asked 15 mixed race people, so you asked 15 random people about an issue that they had no authority on.

lawl, sounds like you were at an EDL meeting given the responses!

17.8% turnout
lawl

That is awful!
With such a poor turnout, the region shouldn't be afforded representation at all.
If people really can't be bothered that much, then remove the seat and combine it with those around it.

There really should be compulsory voting, even if one spoils their ballot paper in disgust r distress at the system.

Comedy gold :D you really are living in some alternative universe where there are racists everywhere! You're either in violent denial or you really have separated yourself into some millennial bubble. Someday soon the reality you created for yourself is going to come crashing down!

I cannot see any logic in racists choosing to live in an area full of ethnics, can you? It would be like someone with a high intolerance of noise choosing to live on the periphery of a major airport or motor racing circuit.

The chances of north Shropshire being anything other than a Conservative seat are infinitesimal, there is no need to vote en masse. Local council elections are a different matter.

Conservative: 27041 (51.4%)
Labour: 10547 (20.1%)
Lib Dem: 3148 (6%)
Green: 2575 (4.9%)
UKIP: 9262 (17.6%)
MAJORITY: 16494 (31.4%)

Category: Very safe Conservative seat

Politics: A solid rural Conservative seat. Taking into account its predecessor seats it has been held by the Conservatives almost continually since 1835, the only gap being a Liberal by-election win in 1904, regained by the Tories at the next general election.
