*** The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Thread ***

Ive see enough to know its ugly and not a patch on note 7. Only thing I like about it is stock android. hate finger print scanner on back to.

I'm actually growing to like the look of the Pixel. Also, FPS on the back is far better, but I will miss a physical home button on the front to wake the device.

Alright chaps

I was absolutely gutted to hear the news today - i was close to finally pressing the button and getting my first Samsung and a note 7!

I currently have a 64GB Nexus 6p, solid phone and get updates in a timely manner but i'm getting bored!

Thinking of getting a Samsung S7 Edge for 6-12 months and then see what the new models are like i.e. Pixel/S8 etc.

I'm actually in Dubai in holiday next week, so could potentially pick up one cheaper and sell the 6p.

Thoughts? or should I just stick to the Nexus for now...

Cheers
Z
Stick with the nexus.

Been a great phone with a superb camera for the short time I've used it. Ready to back it up and reset. Will be sad to see it go tomorrow. :(

Wouldn't surprise me if that had happened.

Companies are obsessed with making phone thinner an smaller.

Many commented here on what the Note 7 fiasco would cost Samsung and today Samsung revealed that their sales this quarterly period have decreased by Korean Won 2 trillion ( Won 49 trillion to Won 47 trillion) as a result of the withdrawal of the Note 7. Two Trillion Won equals US$ 1.7 billion or UK£ 1.4 billion in lost sales. Actual profits, previously estimated by Samsung at Won 7.8 trillion have now been reported at Won 5.2 (or $ 4.6 billion), a hit of approximately one third.

In the past two trading days, the share markets in Korea have dropped the value of Samsung Electronics by nearly $ 20 billion as they believe the negative effect to Samsung's brand will be greater than one quarterly period of decreased sales and profits.

Time will tell.

Good news for me with my old Note 4 - might hold it's value a bit longer! It's still a great phone/device but I do fancy a change. Doesn't seem like there's anything out there worth upgrading to! Can't go smaller.

It's so obvious sesevans works for one of the mobile phone companies.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind, I just don't understand the secrecy.

Obvious but wrong.

Yesterday many speculated here what the financial effect on Samsung would be, first from the Samsung recall of the Note 7 and then the termination of it. Some quoted very high numbers and others suggested minimal financial impact (esp those switching from the Note 7 to another Samsung phone).

Sharing the news on the disclosure overnight by Samsung on its updated sales and earnings for this quarterly period just ending and the share market reaction in the past few trading days seemed a valuable contribution to me. This hardly makes me an "obvious" mobile phone employee.

Just a contributor to this excellent site and someone with an opinion I thought helpful to share with others!

Don't mind them. I'm happy you are posting here.

It is nice to get an inside understanding of things at Google.
