It pays to complain !

Ironically i once went to the cinema and had the direct opposite experience. The sound quality was crap. As in crackly, echoing and just downright terrible. Went and complained and got told 'come and see us again after the film'. So i did whereby they followed it with 'well you stayed until the end so it couldn't have been that bad'. Pointed out i lived an hours drive away so i certainly wasn't going to drive home and then straight back.
Their idea of compensation for me was a bucket of popcorn...

Did it have a hole in the bucket? If so, it may have been "used" :p

They make very little off tickets. Price of the rights to show some films are just silly. Also you have all the other standard costs too.

TBF it is not like another ticket would have made the second move sound any better. At least you can take the popcorn home and have a munch on that hour long drive :p

The strap became unglued on my fitbit after a few months, emailed their support, sent them a picture and they put a brand new one straight in the post. I expected them to want the old one returned and just generally make it a pain but I was pleasantly surprised.

As for Logitech, I've heard they are good, didn't someone take advantage of them in the anonymous thread claiming lots of free stuff before they cottoned on and politely asked to be compensated? :p

Ahh I figured they'd pay a percentage of the ticket to the movie producers. In which case I can somewhat understand the food/drink costs then.

Someone find that thread, I want to read :)

Only a few small scale things.

Complained to Amazon a few times when my prime orders weren't delivered next day - got membership extended a few additional months.

I very rarely complain at restaurants, and this wasn't even a complaint, but had a Calzone in Zizzi, that came out a little cold. Called the first member of staff (which turned out to be the manager), who took it back to the kitchen. He offered another drink on the house, which i actually had declined because i still had a full one. Then found out that they had actually knocked it off the bill instead.

I've also started filling in these surveys which can get you £5-10 off your food bill just for feedback on your experience. Takes 2 mins to fill in, and that's about the equivalent of 25% off for 2 people.

Went to the new Wahaca restaurant in Edinburgh on Saturday. Had to wait 30 minutes to order food as waitress forgot us. Got 50% off the bill and the food came super quick once she'd done apologising.

The chip and pin stopped working on my bank card so I phone up my bank to order a new one. I went through their new automated card request line and at the end something had gone wrong and I wasn't sure if it had worked. I called again and opted to speak to someone in customer service, not to complain but to see if the card request had actually gone through, and the helpful person informed me it had and also thanked me for bringing this to their attention as they were still ironing out the bugs.

That was me happy but as I was about to say thanks and bye, she said "and as a sorry for the inconvenience I'll transfer £15 to your account." I did actually say there was no need but she insisted as I'd also helped them with their new system. Double happy.

When I checked my account it turned out I had misheard her as there was £50 there.

Lol bright side and all that.

Except no eating in the car!

Also the popcorn there was always terrible, stale with no flavour.

They do but the model is very odd.

Up to a certain figure the split is heavily in the cinemas favour to cover the costs of the film, with the rest going to the distributor who markets the film. The figure is about enough to break even, after that the split heavily favours the distributor, so the profit the cinema makes is mainly on confectionery. Even then, the ice cream and sweet places are normally a concession with the cost and lion share of that going to Ben and Jerrys or whoever. Popcorn and Coke is where their profits come from.

I highly recommend complaining (validly) to walkers crisps, got a pack years back that had an air leak and they'd gone soft, phoned them up, a rep came round the following day, inspected the pack, apologised and gave me two huge boxes of crisps for my trouble!

Wait.... wut?! You complained to Walkers about a single packet of crisps that had deflated and they actually sent someone around???! I'm not sure where to even begin on that one!

I had a really old CM Storm Sentinel mouse which had gone rusty in the top mesh, I emailed them and they sent me a new top mesh section. A couple of years later I still had it but it had rusted again, I emailed them again (politely/apologetically) asking if they could spare a couple more, and they sent me a whole new mouse. A CM Storm Sentinel Advance II, which of course, went rusty... :p

I didn't feel like moaning anymore so I had it powder coated.

My mum had home insurance with a big bank company who messed up on payments. My mum complained and got the monthly bills from £60 to £6 a month plus £350 put into her account.

We went to Thorpe Park a few months ago. During the visit two of the coasters were down (Stealth and something else) as well as the Tidal Wave. Whilst there, they took Saw aout of commission too, whilst we'd already been stood in the queue for an hour.

My wife sent them an email and they've sent us four tickets and a load of queue jumping vouchers.

Roll on summer next year.
