**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

keep me posted as this is doing my head in. Ive gone from being able to get 36 hours from a full charge to having to charge it 3 times yesterday.

I switched off Upday and my phone has only dropped 9% over the last 3.5 hours with some use. Definitely made a difference compared to before.

Anyone else find the fingerprint sensor a bit hit and miss? When it works its fast af. But when it doesn't it drives me mad.... :\

Yeah I do that with the 6P (register both index fingers twice), but I would like to be able to use either of my index and thumbs, which is four fingers...

First world problems! :o

Will try the same two twice and see how it goes.

I uninstalled Google photos and the battery was much improved. I woke up Today and the battery is rubbish again. Google photos has installed itself again!

WHY?

Also how can I uninstall upday?

Yep, I've always had issues with it even when I register the same finger several times. Strangely it seem to get worse over time as well, and I end up deleting and deregistering my finger prints, then it seems better for a time.

mine works perfectly, what i would prefer though is the fingerprint reader unlocking my phone when the AOD is on rather than me having to press it first then read my print.

Don't think one can uninstall without root.....but you can uninstall updates and set in Play Store not to auto-update. This is what I have done......and markedly improved battery life. Version of Photos in play store is dated 12th October, so I will be keeping an eye on it for a revised version....

Only problem I am having is with Spotify, the notification bar/lock screen controls seem to stop working and I have to close the app and reopen it to get them back. Doesn't happen with Pocket Casts which has similar controls so it seems to be a Spotify issue rather than a phone issue.

Did you do it after the date? I was tempted to, guy in store said I should but was nervous about giving my IMEI number over :P

long story
-purchased phone before date for Vr
- broke one
- replacement was faulty so exchanged for new one
- sent the proof of purchase of the exchange which was in side the time frame for the VR promo
- got accepted.

I've dropped my S7 Edge :(

I don't think there is any point fixing it, the screen is cracked in many places but you can't really tell and I get to upgrade mid year, so in March I'll upgrade to what hopefully will be the S8, still gutted about cracking it, just as I was trading laptop for an iPad too how ironic.

So just got an S7 Edge and in process of transferring from iOS to Android. Mostly there but few really annoying encounters. All my WhatsApp chat history is stored in iCloud as a backup. No option to change this in iOS. But the Android app expects it in a GMail drive to restore from. So not sure how I can get my WhatsApp chat history from iPhone to the Edge?

Same goes for KIK. I don't use it much though but like having the history. I logged out of the app on iOS and logged in on new phone and the history was wiped. But apparently this is a KIK security "feature"! Oh well.

Definitely liking the handset and android so far. Some slick stuff you just don't see in iOS like how it auto fills codes from text messages.

I do miss the iOS notification centre though. It just seems more uniform and easy to access. Widgets are nice though on Android. Just need to find good ones. Any good train widgets for getting like departure times?

If you get one that outputs 10W, then you will be fast charging. 2.4hrs to charge from 5%, although you should really not let the battery drop below 15% often to prolonger battery cell health.

I posted earlier about LG releasing a 15W one very soon, that will charge at the same rate as the standard wire on our phones as they are the only ones to support 15W Qi charging.

My Samsung chargers have both played up. the pad one has recently started to stop and restart charging randomly from time to time. Exactly the same way the stand version died not too long after.

I have a Tronsmart Chocolate, and CHoetech ones, and they're excellent, and work with any QC2.0 wall charger for Qi fast charging, unlike the Samsung ones.

The ones you linked are fine, just make sure they output 10W, else your'e gonna have to add another hour to the charge time.

I gave up on trying to get my WhatsApp conversations moved over from iOS to Android.

Citymapper is good, if you live in London.

Ah no really?! Did you try that app in the Play Store called wazzap migrator?

Also, I can't seem to sync my contacts from iOS. It's set to sync with my Gmail account in iOS settings but the Gmail account hasn't picked them up for some reason. Anything else I need to do?

I got my S7 back from repair yesterday after a month away. The charging issue is fixed and it does appear to have a new screen as well for some reason, so other than the long wait I'm pretty happy :)

Didn't bother, wanted a clean start anyway. Just grabbed a .txt for posterity but I'll probably delete that. BTW if you don't want WhatsApp images clogging up your gallery, you can go to the WhatsApp media folders and place a blank folder or file called .media and it will hide the media. https://www.whatsapp.com/faq/en/android/30031687.

Best way to migrate the contacts is to login to iCloud, select all the contacts and export the .vcf, then import that into Google and make sure your Google account syncs contacts.

There is an app to sync iCloud contacts but it just makes sense to move them over to your Google account.

Nice one, thanks for the reply. I'll give the newer one of the three a try and see whats up.

I assume if its connected via USB to the PC it won't be able to kick out 10W?
