Those "HOLY MOLY" moments...

Elite on the original BBC. 1st time a looked up from a game and realised it was getting light outside.

Unreal (yes the original) when I 1st installed my GeforceMX and saw lighting and mist in game.

DeusEx - such a good game, the story telling and implications of your actions.

Elite Dangerous on a rift - turning around and seeing the bridge of your FerDeLance, not the spare bedroom wall.

Pretty much this when after I first installed my voodoo card WAYYYYYYY back. The opening cinematic

Another one would be Everquest. The first time I entered East Commons (the auction house) and realised just how big the community to this game was.

MOHAA Omaha Beach. It was basically like being in Saving Private Ryan.

As if I forgot about that. It was superb and in general MOHAA would be the first game to completely WOW me. Up until then I was a console player and went round a mates on dinner at college and he had 2 high end rigs in his room both running MOHAA. I tried it online and never went back college that day.

Not long after my Dad bought a PC and I spent so many hours playing it.

I would love them to re-make it, but only on the basis they do not mess with the gameplay, just rebuild using a new engine. This was the game I loved as a kid and spent so many hours playing over and over again. Obviously I would like to see Breakthrough & Spearhead included in that as well.

Resident Evil 2, for me was:
The bit with the one-way glass and the licker. Panicked a bit (a lot) there.

And the Original Mass Effect: barring a few impressive moments (first experiencing the Citadel, for example) I'd gotten pretty jaded by end-game (especially the awful planet exploration/mako bits), but the ending just felt spectacular. Can't actually remember what happened now, and haven't played the sequels, but remember feeling pretty blown away by it.

When I built my first PC and fired up Farcry for the first time. So strange looking at how dated it looks now, at the time I thought it was amazing and nothing would ever look better.

Game story wise would have to be The walking dead

Lee :(

That's the bunny :-)

Also remember the room in Unreal when the lights went out in sections each with a clunk. The whole place went into darkness and then the monsters came - Eeek !

Still one of the best tech demos of all time..

Yeah but not all of that made it into the final? Or did it? I was amazed by the mavity gun bit and the pool.
And the Combine soldier AI...

COD MW2 -
When you get petrol poured on you and then Shepherd throws his cigar on you and you die; I was expecting to be saved. Kept thinking that Price was going to come in all guns blazing.

oh yeah, that whole scene where he executes Ghost and burns you alive... I think I sat with my jaw on the floor for ages after that

The original COD series, those WW2 enactments of actual battles were intense. I needed a laydown after some of those assaults.

Last of Us

Giraffe

It had been really quite so when she legged it I expected poop and fans, instead big smiles :), and, well **** that's a first.

Last one for me would be Elite Dangerous on a Rift. I literally sat there in awe for about 10 minutes looking at how far away the nose of my Anaconda was!

So many to choose from -

KOTOR - The "reveal"

Monkey Island 2 - The ending sequence

GTA 3 - Seeing a GTA game that wasn't top-down and being stunned

James Pond - Seeing how long his neck will extend

Leisure Suit Larry - Glimpsing side boob for the first time in full EGA glory

Mass Effect series - Being emotionally invested in a game for the first time ever

Witcher 3 - Being emotionally invested in a game for the second time ever

Loads of excellent examples here.

One I would like to add was from Mafia 2 - not the best of games but it had a brilliant very short side mission where you and I think was Joe go off to perform a hit on some chap who had once betrayed 'the family'... Not many games make me back off from the PC and stand in complete shock.

Mass Effect 2 - Again not the best of sequels, but that ending cinematic with the big bads coming....
Mass Effect 3 - That flaming ending....and I mean it in a negative way!

Red Dead Redemption - What a kick in the face after such an unsurpassed gaming experience.
