Very intense episode.
For anyone who thought this was too much, be glad that they never stuck to the books for the Governor storyline.
But...That's the thing - I read the books, and I don't have a problem with it so much in there. This is the big thing about Kirkman that irrtates me, and
why Darabont getting the boot is such a big loss; TWD for me is, like Kirkman says, not about the zombies - that's been played to death. It's about the world
after the zombie apocalypse, and how humans rebuild and become something different...There's the whole angle of the duality of man thing going, and the comic makes a good job of conveying that.
The
show on the other hand, is largely a lot of walking and scavenging, occasionally punctuated by Rick wanting to talk about things, Carl being some manner of rat
******* that gets away with murder and occasionally people who also happen to be black getting ganked - I can't for the life of me figure out just how much input Kirkman puts into the show, because the writing is often
terrible - Darabont's tenure on the show, however was consistently excellent. What we've had since the end of season 2 is nothing about a descent into madness and survivalism, or what people do after with the possible exception of Alexandria...And *that* pooch has been screwed now that Negan's on the scene.
Also, where in blue blazes is Carol? She's
arguably the character with the most development, and there wasn't even a whiff of her. I kind of hope that she ends up in a cell with Darryl. (who incidentally, I was seriously hoping would be the one to get the Lucille treatment)
