US: **The Walking Dead Season 7 - Contains Spoilers - No future content to be discussed **

Top episode. Glenn's head and eye was just brilliant, and Abe's last words. :D

I can't believe that some people are seriously complaining about the violence and gore in a post-watershed zombie series known for it's violence and gore. Who let all these sensitive little ********** out of their safe spaces?

I think I'm done with the walking dead. While I'd agree that it was probably some of the most brutal viewing I've seen in a while, it was pretty much all style and no substance - You could probably argue really that The Walking Dead shot its load, and has been consistently jumping the shark since reaching the prison.

The show was loosing it's way so it has to keep on pulling something shocking out of the bag. It's almost not shocking because you know it's got to be something over the top to compete with what's gone previously. Seemed a bit OTT in comparison to killing a zombie which is already dead. You don't expect that from an American show, no sugar coating on that one. Was also surprised Rick didn't give his son any hug after what had just happened. I guess they were all in shock but there wasn't much in the way of consoling one another.

Yes, following the source material is "pulling something shocking out of the bag" to stop the show losing its way.

Great episode. I enjoyed it, pretty intense, kept me interested and wondering what might happen to Rick/Carl. I had figured Abraham was going to get it, not Glenn as well though, until Daryl lashed out, then I knew Glenn was about to die too, man that was gruesome.

Don't worry though, Glenn is not dead, it was all down to camera angles as we will see in a few episodes' time...

Very intense episode.

For anyone who thought this was too much, be glad that they never stuck to the books for the Governor storyline. :)

But...That's the thing - I read the books, and I don't have a problem with it so much in there. This is the big thing about Kirkman that irrtates me, and why Darabont getting the boot is such a big loss; TWD for me is, like Kirkman says, not about the zombies - that's been played to death. It's about the world after the zombie apocalypse, and how humans rebuild and become something different...There's the whole angle of the duality of man thing going, and the comic makes a good job of conveying that.

The show on the other hand, is largely a lot of walking and scavenging, occasionally punctuated by Rick wanting to talk about things, Carl being some manner of rat ******* that gets away with murder and occasionally people who also happen to be black getting ganked - I can't for the life of me figure out just how much input Kirkman puts into the show, because the writing is often terrible - Darabont's tenure on the show, however was consistently excellent. What we've had since the end of season 2 is nothing about a descent into madness and survivalism, or what people do after with the possible exception of Alexandria...And *that* pooch has been screwed now that Negan's on the scene.

Also, where in blue blazes is Carol? She's arguably the character with the most development, and there wasn't even a whiff of her. I kind of hope that she ends up in a cell with Darryl. (who incidentally, I was seriously hoping would be the one to get the Lucille treatment)

Brutal episode, not sure the scenes needed to be as graphic but this is a walking dead after-all.

To be fair it's been a long time coming, should be a great season. :D

Dunno but we're about to see Morgan (and someone else?) team up with another gang I believe, who'll probably kick Neegan and his crew's ass.

For probably the first time, I pretty much kept myself away from the spoilers/trailers (apart from possibly being 2). That was crushing. Absolutely convinced it was Michonne at first, then almost definitely Carl and finally thought someone was losing an arm. I was literally on the edge of my office chair. My only worry is that is one hell of a bar to set for the rest of the season. For me, right up there with the following episodes (no particular order):

Ab Aeterno (Lost)
Felina + Ozymandias (Breaking Bad)
Battle of the ******** (GoT)
Exodus, Part 2 (BSG)

EDIT :D:p

I agree completely.

I thought it was very good, the whole ep was about Negan, his power, his sadistic nature, his charisma and his brutality.. Oh and that he is in charge.

Ironically the one thing about Negan that they've had to tone down from the comics is his language. That guy swears like a monster trucker.

trouble is that the next episode will be back to form with them moping around and feeling sorry for themselves the whole time. its just too slow and something needs to happen now, where is the government and military? what is the rest of the world up to. Not having read the comics it just seems to be "baddy of the season" and a very slow build up to some new tech demo in gore effects.

Despite knowing what was going to happen due to a well known FB spoiler page I was tense throughout the entire episode.

I dont believe many people would have bothered too much if just Abraham had been given the bat, and the show really needed to up the ante and the sense of vulnerability by killing a main character.

Aside from Daryl I dont believe the fanbase had more of an emotional connection with anyone aside from Glen. My wife is a huge TWD fan and she was clearly upset after the Glen scene.

The 'Carl' scene was also upsetting and Lincoln's acting as Rick was sublime, the tears, the snot coming out of his nose. IMO it was unsettling to see Rick break.

Negan is far more menacing than the Governor ever was in my opinion but it will be interesting to see if they conclude Negan in the same way as the comic book does.

The well known problem with TWD though is still a threat. A great opening episode to the new season followed by a number of filler episodes before they start to build up for the mid season climax. I don't believe they will be able to top this episode.

There is no government. There is no military. So far as we know the failure is cataclysmic and all encompassing.
