US: **The Walking Dead Season 7 - Contains Spoilers - No future content to be discussed **

Axe in this episode was clearly a tease as I expected Rick to lose his hand at a few points

The producers have said Rick hasn't lost his hand because it would make him far too slow and would mean it took him forever to do anything. That's fine in the comics where you don't have to watch him as such, but it would suck in the TV show if he had to do everything super slowly.

Loved this episode, just hope that the season's not too filler heavy, shouldn't be given the introduction of the new elements.

One question a mate and I have been batting around; given his responses during the episode, is Carl an incredibly wooden actor, or a bad ass who's about go on a killing spree? He didn't seem to react at all really, serial killer levels of detachment.

Well considering the level of acting we've seen in the previous season, it may just be the former.

That's my thinking, it's a shame as he could be accurately described as a child of the apocalypse, in that a decent amount of his childhood was spent fighting to survive. It would have been interesting to explore how his childhood might have moulded him into a slightly different character than the rest of the group. Less affected by violence, more willing to step across the line with less thought, maybe a morale compass that isn't effectively gone like Negan's but just a little bit off kilter. Unfortunately I think those story arcs might have required a better actor.

He's detached since he got the old guy killed at the farm, forgot his name.

I think they try to portray Carl as completely desensitised to the world around him after he's pretty much grown up in it now. He's not nearly as annoying as he used to be.

Surprised people are saying the episode went to far etc etc. As someone said, there just seems to be a lot of faux rage over this episode.

As for people concerned for kids. It is a TV show about zombies. There is "dead" in the title. What are kids who cannot handle such things doing watching it in the first place?

We really enjoy Walking Dead and thought it was a very good episode. Was surprised and sad to see Glenn go (I do not follow comics). My guess was Abraham would be the one to die, and I was correct and was in the middle of being smug to my partner while Glenn got it and we were both like :(

Good TV :p:D

Must agree that I see it as intentional (mixed with a bit of bad acting maybe) that he just doesn't really care about violence etc. Thing is if they try to subtly show it then it will/can be called bad acting if they go overly overt to show it people will say lazy directing/dumb show. It's a hard one but I would say they are aiming for don't care with him.

Never takes long in the walking dead threads for those that no longer like it to remind us how crap it is but they still watch it out of habit in the hope it comes good blah blah blah.

Maybe by series 10 you will find something else to watch?
So true, if I don't like something I don't watch it.

That was pretty brutal . Takes the crown from Irreversible as one of the most brutal scenes I have seen. Maybe a little too much for this type of show imo, especially for a character many loved and watched develop over 6 long seasons.

Not that it wasn't a good episode, it was definitely one of the best in a long time. The show was getting very monotonous and this has certainly spiced things up. You never really got the feeling they were ever in real danger as they always come out on top. So many times they have been cornered and you know they will get out of it with maybe just one of the new additions to the group that you don't care about biting the dust. But this time you just knew they were screwed and it was edge of the seat stuff for the first time in a long time. Also has established one of the best bad guys ever and also Trevor as his right hand man. This can only be awesome from here on out :D.

I think I was more excited that Trevor (from GTAV) was in a TV show than finding out what happens to them :D.

That was brutal, when Glen said to Maggie what sounded like "I'll find you..." I may have teared up a bit:o

I had been bracing myself for it to be Maggie what happened was equally shocking even if predicted by many.

I feel this is just the beginning of the most brutal series yet, I guess I've got about 28 hrs to prepare for the next round!!!

My friend trolled me before watching it that they all died, so I actually thought that was what was happening when Rick was envisioning it.

I think you are right about things getting worse this season if that was the first episode. In film and TV when the supposed 'good guys' do something bad, they set themselves up for something bad happening to them. Murdering people in their sleep certainly qualifies for that and they made it clear everyone took part and was on board, especially Maggie :(.
