High Speed HDMI Cable 4K@60hz 10bit

Have you tried HDMI 2 and 3?
Unplug the lead turn off the TV then plug in the HDMI lead to 2 or 3 to make sure you get a good handshake.

Yes only using HDMI 2 and 3 as these are the ports that support HDCP on this TV. Did the power cycle thingy too. I am getting a 50£ cable, which is only 1.5m long (Monster Black Platinum Ultra HD HighSpeed HDMI Cable with Ethernet, 1.5M). If that doesn't do the trick, either TV goes back or GPU gets an upgrade. :D Or I just accept the fact and live happily after.

Blue Jeans are the best cables if your going to spend that kind of money.

I use these on my Sony UHD https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00LGX0230/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

What model GTX 980 do you have?

Maybe the manufacturer just put an inferior HDMI port in?

Galax Hall of Fame GTX 980. It was one of the most expansive 980, retailing around 500£ before the 980 Ti was launched, and I will be really surprised if they would have cut corners like this. It's a very good point though.

Shall I try a DP to HDMI adapter? Will that coupe with these bandwidths?

EDIT: This review states that this card has HDMI 2.0 connector. http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/galax-geforce-gtx-980-hof-review,2.html

In my experience both ends of the connection/devices need to be told to accept UHD colour, without that you can't get CR 444 4K@60Hz. Have you checked the Sony TV settings, must be there somewhere?

What is it that you are trying to play and what software are you playing it with?

I can see if mine works. I have a GTX 1060 and use a 6m Slim HDMI cable from Amazon to connected to my Anthem amp, then a 2m Slim HDMI to my LG OLED.

This is the cable I'm using https://www.amazon.co.uk/Worlds-Sli...id=1477591911&sr=8-1&keywords=slim+hdmi+cable

It's handled everything so far, though not sure exactly what is being output. I use JRiver Media Centre and played with the MadVR settings, I read that I should use exclusive mode but it makes the picture flash for me.

980ti + sony 4k hdr tv = cannot do hdr or 10bit.

I should know I have several £100+ hdmi cables and have tried everything for 6 months. Not possible.

4k 4:4:4 8bit 60hz gaming is easy possible though. Worked out of the box Sony 55XD8599 just a single model up from yours - Works with all hdmi cables from cheap to expensive. You should get the latest usb firmware for the TV there are so many hdmi issues with the 7 and 8 series so update via usb the TV firmware to Octobers file on the website and try again after setting uhd colour for port 2 or 3. If this fails you literally have a faulty tv.

I believe that I have the latest firmware on my tele. Last week when TV arrived that is the first thing I did over the internet. But I am now going to do it through USB as well. May try a factory reset also.. Otherwise this has to go back.

Can you please confirm the firmware version on your tv? Mine is PKG6.0514.0001EUA.

So put the usb in the TV and it says that I already have the latest version so its confirmed that firmware isnt the issue either. Doing a factory reset now. Will report back shortly.

Ok finally we have a break through. Well not a good one but I have found the problematic equipment. Thanks to all of you who contributed and helped. TV itself turns out to be culprit.

I think all the confusion kicked off when I tested HDMI 2.0 on my 4K monitor and encountered black screen when running the games. As you may recall the desktop was displayed without any issues. Turns out that is to do with full screen. Something freaking out the handshake between monitor and PC when a full screen 3d application is launched. If I run the game border-less or don't use exclusive full screen, it works. This rules out both the PC and HDMI cable. Calling Johnlewis tomorrow. I am also thinking to buy something different rather than replacing this one. It's a great TV for price but blacks are a bit disappointing. I was tempted to pick up a 10 bit 120hz panel TV but there isn't much use to that because HDMI 2.0 won't take such a signal. I want to stay with Sony due to Android platform. Still thinking about it. May be worth waiting till the black friday now. Any suggestions welcome.

The android TVs are some of the slowest.

OLED for best blacks or Samsung KS8000 for best gaming TV.

Or get a Full Array Local Dimming LED like the KS9500 but it's OLED prices and only comes with a curved screen .

That setting is for HDR Blu Ray. When I had a GTX 970 I had to turn that off on the HDMI.

It's how you enable 4:4:4 chroma on the TV:

The X700D can display Chroma 4:4:4 at 4k @ 60Hz only on the HDMI port 2 and 3 and you need to switch the 'HDMI signal format' to 'Enhanced format'. When the picture mode is set to 'Graphics' or 'Game' the input lag is 31.4ms.

When I had my GTX 970 and enabled 'Enhanced format' I had black screens and problems.

Now I've got a 1070 I can switch on 'Enhanced format'. I will now try it with the Enhanced format off.

At UHD with Enhanced format off I got 4:2:2. So yes your right. I've learned something new today :)
I didn't try it @4K only UHD

Another question about 120hz TV panels. I know that they are fine on 1080p@120hz and input lag isn't as good as a monitor. But wondering if any of you guys put those 120hz panels to use for the gaming? What are your experiences?

Obviously 4K@120hz 4:4:4 is not possible over HDMI 2.0. But what about 4K@120hz 4:2:0? Or even 1440p?
