Went and purchased the new Razor Blade with Core!

This looks great, be interested to know how you like it once received.

With the Core could this replace my desktop? It looks like I could have the laptop with the Core attached via TB3 and into the Core plug in monitor, keyboard, mouse and external harddrive, and possibly even an external sound card (otherwise would sound be via the laptop's headphone jack). It seems like the Core is effectively a docking station with the added benefit of being able to improve the graphics! Can you use the Core for output to a monitor or do you need to plug into the laptop itself via HDMI or an adaptor?

Anyone know how a i7-7500U Dual-Core Processor will compare to an old Intel Q9550 @4GHz?

You can plug a monitor into the card itself in the core.

Oh yes of course. TB3 bandwidth isn't quite strong enough to pipe the signal back into the laptop. If I want the extra grunt I'll just plug in my 4K tv into the laptop:)

Think you're getting confused he's talking about the Razer Blade PRO and not the Razer Blade...

The Pro comes with a 1080, what's the point in buying the Core?

Also, it looks like the difference between 256gb and 512tb from Razer is about £200. a 1tb m2 is about £250 elsewhere. Would it be better just to buy the 1tb from a third party? Is it easy enough to swap?

I don't believe it voids the warrenty unless the action of swapping the add itself breaks the system. If anyone breaks their system putting in an SSD they kind of deserve it...

The problem is proving you didn't damage it when swapping it out. If they say it's been opened they can blame it on you damaging it regardless.

Will I void the warranty by opening or upgrading my Razer Blade's components on my own?
Yes, opening the Razer Blade will void your warranty. If there are any issues with your Razer Blade, please contact your local Razer System Support Team by viewing the links the left side of the page.

With that being the case I'm sure they'll use screws or something that will show if the chassis has been opened.

The ssd is a pcie m.2 not a sata m.2 so the cheaper 1tb models won't work.
I changed the ssd in my 2015 blade as that was a m.2 sata. Although the state it voids your warranty, there is no warranty stickers so they wouldn't know if you are careful

I don't know, but why would you want it to? Is this purely to cut back on the number of sockets you use?

Surely one of the benefits that the core provides is the single connection back to the laptop (keyboard, mouse etc are permanently in the core). So you don't need to faff around getting the power supply out of the laptop bag and then hunting under the desk for a socket.

Well from what I know of the 970m Blade I believe you still need the charger. With the stealth you to not. I could be wrong though.
