I have a feeling Rosberg's going to get into a scrap with the Red Bulls and get shunted into the wall by Verstappen..

We can only hope :D

If Hamilton stays ahead for the first lap then I predict another pit priority for Rosberg and split strategy.

E: So, I read on Sky Sports that Rosberg's qualifying recovery may be in part attributable to a last minute change of setup to match Hamilton's. I can understand the benefits of sharing data within a team in securing the WCC, but now that's been decided, is it really fair to continue to do so? Especially as both their drivers are contenders for the title.

Disclaimer: My judgement on this may be clouded by bias.

Rosberg can't handle a scrap. He'll end up crashing out if that happens. I suspect the Ferraris to be better than they were in qualifying too, and both usually get excellent starts.

The long run to the first corner could get interesting with the red bulls in 3rd and 4th. I'd be setting my engine to 100% if I were Nico and especially Lewis!

It'll also massively penalise any poor start as they'll be going backwards through the field all the way to the first corner.

Brundle hit the nail on the head earlier regards this. They claim the new process puts everything in the hands of the driver and is thus solely down to their skill yet nothing could be further from the truth. There are so many variables involved that it's not possible for any driver to control all of them perfectly and thus a significant element of chance is introduced which is worse than it was before. Yes it can mix things up which is good for the 'show' but do we really want races and even championships decided by who gets away best when that's not totally within the driver's control.

We're already looking at a championship decided primarily by engine reliability which, combined with the general dominance of one team over all others for most of this millenium, doesn't help the image of the sport. They claim they're having trouble attracting new, younger viewers but, from what I've heard speaking to people, there's a general perception that the driver is an ever decreasingly significant part of the overall equation.

My wishlist for the last few races of the season:
  • Mexico - Lewis win and Nico DNF leaving one point in it.
  • Brazil - Double Merc DNF in Brazil, One point difference for the last race.
  • Abu Dhabi - The clean wheel to wheel battle we've all been hoping for since Bahrain 2014, winner takes all.

I know it will never happen like this and i dont like wishing DNF on people but it would be an epic end to the season!

Would also like to express how much i dislike the C4 coverage:(

71 laps today. Love these shorter tracks. The races are usually more interesting as cars trip over each other and such.

This whole national anthem business is nonsense though. Wish Brundle would have asked Kimi if he's going to sing the anthem.

I know what you mean. You can put it on pole now and then have all your hard work undone in one start which is a bit rubbish. Hopefully we'll have more teams winning races next year. Your last comment will hopefully be eased if we do have at least two teams getting poles/wins because then it at least looks like a driver can beat another driver regardless of their car. Having one team clearly ahead of everyone doesn't do F1 any favours but at the same time you can't blame Mercedes, they just did the best when creating their new engine. If only we could have a bit more development to allow the others to catch up. Right now it seems you have to get it right for the rule change and if you don't you have to wait for the next big shake up.

I am looking forward to the changes next year though. Hopefully we'll at least have two/three teams winning races.

This will be the first C4 race I've watched, this Welsh berk is one of the worst presenters ever.
How many times has DC had to correct him, you could make a drinking game out of it and be absolutely smashed by the time the national anthem plays:eek:
