US: **The Walking Dead Season 7 - Contains Spoilers - No future content to be discussed **

Really liked the second episode. Was expecting lots of filler, but it actually added a lot of depth to the story.

Interesting how every group/tribe has a name except Rick's group. Fully expecting Rick's group to turn up and the kingdom to be destroyed. Shame.

How are the saviours so strong versus all the other groups? Will be interesting to see their base of operations.

It wasn't pointless imo. It gave a quick low down, who and what is the Kingdom and also a background story to Ezekiel and Shiva and the kingdoms relationship to the Saviours.

This isn't a filler its main arc. I don't quite understand what everyone is expecting. If you want mindless violence with zero investment in story and character development then perhaps Z Nation would be better?

Exactly they aren't going to cover introducing a new group in 10 mins and then going straight back to caving heads in.

The show is never going to be non stop action, there needs to be some actual story in there somewhere.

I enjoyed episode 2, a nice change of pace from episode 1. It will be interesting to see how things pan out for the kingdom, since they and Alexandria both share a common interest in taking down Negan.

I guess some of you lot just aren't cut out for the dark world of the walking dead, best to stick to the cbeebies channel :p :D

I don't mind violence but it was just unnecessary...Reminded me of Peter Jacksons Bad taste...Just a bit naff...

It was like watching a snuff movie

Well, it was pretty much faithful to the comic.

Shock horror! There is over the top violent/gruesome scenes in a show about zombies, who would have known!!! :p :D

Also, this is Negan we are talking about.... he is one evil son of a ***** who will do whatever it takes to terrify his "slaves" and make sure that they comply or else **** like that happens.

There is potential for things to get even more violent/gruesome than episode 1....

You got it right in your first sentence: "Shock horror". That's all it is and as Easyrider says, it's a 'bit naff'.

There's a big difference between battering a zombie's brains out and doing so to a living person, even within the messed up parameters of TWD.

Yes it's following the comics, yes it's setting Negan's character up. But the real storytelling impact would have been NOT to show it in graphic detail. But they went down the cheap shock horror route.

Ironic that in EP2 they cut the camera away from a zombie being stabbed in the head by Ezekiel at the pig 'farm'. Obviously there's no shock value in that anymore and so not worth spending the special effects budget.

Ok then so I take it all of this stuff went too far then?

- Dale getting his stomach torn apart
- Hershel getting his head hacked of with the katana
- Maggie performing the c-section whilst she was still alive and without any form of pain medication and then having Carl "end" his mum
- cannibals whacking people on the head with a base ball bat and then slicing their throats like they were cattle and then showing them eating people's body parts
- Rick and his group going full machete on the terminal/cannibal guy in the church
- Carl about to get raped by the motorbike gang ending with Rick ripping the old guys throat out with his mouth and then ramming his knife all the way up the guys chest
- Governor getting stabbed in his eye with glass
- children being brutally killed, both zombie children and alive ones, you don't really see this happen with the big zombie films let alone many horror films....
- Rick chopping of the hand of his new girlfriend followed by Carl's eye getting skimmed by a bullet ending with Michonne sticking her katana through the kids chest

Amongst many other brutal deaths.

And yes, I think it should have been established long ago that this show was never just going to be about zombies, it was just used as a catalyst for a very character driven story about how the survivors adapt, changing their outlook and morals i.e. this goes back to most of season 2 and what happened with Rick and Shane and their outlook on what had to be done. Plus given the last few seasons, it should also be pretty obvious that the zombies are no longer a big deal, it is the people that you have to worry about now...

Want some silly mindless zombie action with no character development then you got z-nation for that.

Here's me hoping it does get more violent and gruesome!

Indeed, bring it on I say! :D

+1! :D

Negan is one bad ass and has completely destroyed Rick mentally, this was the whole point of episode 1, it was about introducing Negan (and as Negan said, first impressions are important) and making him possibly the biggest villain that the TWD will ever see and breaking Rick down completely. In the comics, he would have had Rick cut off Carl's hand too...

I agree... Oh and you missed out the Noah death as well. That was very gruesome but its part of the show.

Nah we're just trying to see how many times you'll copy paste your list of brutal TWD scenes into this thread ;)

And I am still waiting for answers as to if those scenes were "necessary" or/and over the top :D ;) :p

I hope they stop with the violence and gore. I wish they would just call each other rude names.

Personally I am hoping that Negan skips into Alexandria with a daisy in his ear whilst delivering hand picked flowers to everyone and then tells them all it was just a prank. In the end, they all hold hands and join up to rid the world of zombies and live happily ever after.

:p

I actually didn't find his death that bad tbh :p
