2017 Woodbridge 1 Mile Racing NOW ON BOOK QUICKLY!!

In... however, can we do more than just 1 mile racing please? :D

E.g. can we add to it with some auto-x or similar? Space to prat around etc? :)

I shall ask the organiser, but I suspect to do that we will need at least 40 confirmed cars and all need to be in agreement to do so and of course Javalin need to be happy with that, or we look at booking it for weekend and splitting it over two days. :)

I know the Mustang guys would be up for it but there idea of pratting around is line lock, donuts, drifting until the tyres are more or less destroyed.

As you discovered Mac in the yellow Mustang needs no excuse to enable line lock or do a drift, he loves it. :D

Based on my experience of how Javelin operate (ie none of this is gospel but I'd be surprised if I was wrong):

The dates offered will likely coincide with a Javelin trackday (ie this will run on either the Saturday or Sunday, and Javelin will run a trackday on the other day). It makes staffing easier for Javelin if they have the airfield for a whole weekend and run events on both days. Booking both days exclusively may be possible but you'd be best off just assuming there will be a public trackday on the other day and letting people book it independently.

Freestyle burnouts, donuts and drifting will probably be a non-starter. There are areas of the runway where the tarmac dressing on top of the concrete is breaking up a due to sideways action, particularly where the 'usual' trackday circuit joins the runway. For this reason Javelin are having to be a little more protective of the runway surface and probably won't let you go crazy.

Running a separate area for auto-x etc will require additional staffing/insurance and would probably increase cost. I'd assume this is also unlikely to happen.

Spectator entry will be almost certainly be free although there may a requirement for a list of names in advance due to Woodbridge still being an active MoD site.

/Oh and as it's local and Vix will most likely end up working the day I'll probably be there. Unlikely to be running though as the MR2 is far too short geared for 1 mile runs. I'd be bouncing of the limiter in 6th at 120 :D

All makes sense to me and I think you will be pretty spot on, as such people should only be saying they will come on the basis that all that will be happening is 1 mile racing for the day. :)

Ok well for clarity I'm a maybe.

£130 is too much money to just drive in a straight line. If we can do other things I'm definitely in. But 1 mile straight for £130 with no shenanigans.. I'm not sure that is worth it for me.

INNNNNNNNNN

R8 V10 Plus or something quicker!!!

Date dependent but can probably move stuff around.

I OWNED all the TVR's at FT2007, though that was Wattisham not Woodbridge! :D

Well I'll stick my name down in the date dependent list (E39 M5), although being some way off I'd hope to be able to secure that weekend.

Are helmets a requirement?

So a bunch of Mustang drivers want to drive on an airfield where if when they lose control there's no other cars / kerbs / pedestrians to hit. Makes a lot of sense!

I'd still stand way way back though! :D

/sorry, couldnt resist :p

Depending on dates I'll probably pop along mainly to watch. Little interest in going on a run though. Got friends who live Yarmouth way so will probably go see them and make a weekend of it. I'll post the same on M6G at some point too :)

Put me in the "I am really up for this, money is not an issue, but I have a social life and need a date before I can commit at which point I can put it in my diary and make sure work, family, the ball and chain know I will not be available that weekend!" list :) Car to be confirmed.

Javelin usually book Woodbridge for a whole weekend, would there be a chance of a trackday before/after the event?

Yeah likely there'd be a trackday on the other day, depending what the base are up to at the time.

If you're thinking of bringing ladies, please make them aware there are not proper toilets ;) seems to be something that shocks people, just portaloos I'm afraid but they are fresh on the day :D

Gibbo, have you confirmed with Colin about bikes? Last I knew, the MoD were completely 'nope' about bike events. Of course spectators on any number of wheels are permitted.

And yep, helmets will be required but you can hire them on the day.

We have to bring our own ladies too? :(

Might not be any kerbs to hit, but some of the bushes are pretty solid, rabbit holes everywhere and the odd unmarked bunker access hatch to dodge.

Ladies are not compulsory haha!

There are bushes and things but not in the middle of the runway :D

As I only know my 1 mile time with 730hp (lovely lovely Autobahn and 10hz GPS tracker) and not the fully monty 900hp - I'm IN but only for the "need a date confirmed" section at the minute.

With my lower rev limit I may actually be a little slower as I hit 6th (and therefore lose some acceleration) at around 190mph now rather than 206mph previously. However it now gets to 190mph a few seconds quicker so it may all equal out, who knows!

So 184mph with 730BHP. Seems not bad!

Think my mate might crack 200mph, he should have 800BHP for this, car will be around 1690kg and is a manual.
