A year or more. For me my upgrade path is based on the performance I getting out of the games I playing..
I have long gone at trying to get 144fps @144hz instead I now aim at 60fps plus and doing so makes my upgrade choice last longer.

My 290 is starting to struggle with some games I needed to lower some settings down @1440p

Had these 970s for over 2 years now and the Pascal Titan X is the first card with the perf I would want for an upgrade. I am happy to wait until I can have that sort of perf for about ~£500 :p

I'll wait until a single card can overtake my current SLI setup by an increase of 35%. That's looking like a 1180ti? So that's what, 2018?

Surely not. I wish I hadn't seen this thread. :(

Waiting for Vega since it was announced. And I will be waiting until it comes out.....
And calling dibs on the first Sapphire or Powercolor top of the range Vega that will arrive at OCUK....
(put me forward for pre-order pls)

980ti performance will drop with each newly released game (as will the rest of the maxwell lineup, relative to Pascal) due to lack of driver improvements.

i got my 970 for under £280 so i dont want to spend 30% more to upgrade to the same level of card...

but im waiting on AMD as of now and im not desperate.

A long long time indeed.

I Fancy a 1080 very much but "£599 - save £120" as per my email from OC/UK sales today for this "bargain "? **** that!

Not OC/UK's fault more that of the cosy gfx card monopoly that we seem to be held hostage to these days.

I'm afraid I've long realised that you don't need to rush out and buy the latest kit to enjoy gaming without sacrificing very much at all, the last new card I bought was a 6800GT and that was a near eol offer.

I'll happily wait until the 1080 is a fraction of its retail and will probably in the meantime upgrade my second hand (£90) 780ti with a used 980ti

It's all relative of course, but I can't justify such an outlay on a graphics card or indeed any other PC component, yes I use my PC a lot and yes I could afford it, but, I'd far rather wait and save and spend the difference on other things.

I don't like playing the waiting game, I just get the best I can afford at the time.

I find this the best option as you get the maximum use out of a new piece of tech.

If someone had bought an original Titan on launch day for example they can still use it and get near GTX 1060 performance out of it.

Yes you do have to spend a lot in the first place but you don't have to upgrade very often.

Having said that the Titan could have been sold after 12 months of use and replaced by the next top of the line release for minimal extra outlay.

When do you see a 35% performance increase being available with a single card? The Titan P can't do it, so even if a 1080ti gets released, it won't be any better?

A year or more for me. I waited ages for the 14/16nm GPU's.

My next card will need to be roughly Titan XP performance for £500 or less. I am hoping Vega will provide this. If not will probably just get the 1170 when it comes out.

At mt ripe old age, I don't know how long I have left, so I don't wait at all. I get what I can afford and hate waiting for any length of time and will happily swap out pre-orders for something else.

I put 2 weeks.

I'm currently waiting on Vega but my Fury Pro is doing an adequate job as I wait so while a 1070 is a tempting card and I would like more performance on my new res I've opted to not switch because AMD have been providing great driver support for Fiji this year and as I said the Fury Pro is capable of keeping my games playable.

With my MSI 290x gaming which was a heat monster I struggled to wait for the Fury as Maxwell offered an okay upgrade at the time with the 980 being a fair bit faster without the heat issues of the MSI 290x Gaming which really bothered me. I waited a good 6-7 months with that card and when the Fiji cards first released and I got mine I was a bit disappointed in what I got for the wait but now and for most of this year I'm glad I did wait and didn't got with a 980.

Ha-ha:D Ha-ha:D Ha-ha:D

He's such a joker :D

Seriously though, Don't build yourself up for a fall, If it's close to Titan XP performance it'll be priced to match.
