Item Arrived after Refund

I ordered 8GB RAM from Amazon and when it didn't turn up they resent it and this time I received it.

A few days later the original order arrived and I decided to keep it so I contacted Amazon and paid for it.

Maybe I'm too honest but look forward to getting my reward in heaven.

Had an order arrive 2 weeks late. In mean time I had reordered and recieved new item.
Just kept both as only a few pounds

Other time I wanted to return an item as it was no use to me. Seller tried to haggle and then just let me keep it.

Tbh postage costs on both items were near cost of item itself

Or you could have sent it back and still get your reward in heaven

This happened to me too. Bought something from China, it didn't arrive for 7 weeks, I asked for a refund and they did it. It arrived after 3 months. I told the seller, they asked me to send it and they'll reimburse me. I didn't agree, I got a shipping quote and asked for the payment up front, they asked me to keep it.

Either they collect it or you keep it. In no case do you pay a penny.

This.

Just keep it until they sort out return postage at their expense. If it's low value then they usually won't bother.

Reminds me of a free 32" TV i received earlier this year

Major high street retail chain, lost the TV i ordered in transit somehow, so i got a refund after waiting 4 or 5 days for it to turn up.

They apologised and gave me £30 discount off the replacement i ordered.

The 'lost' TV turned up about a week later, so i ended up with 2 :D

I waited a few months then sold it on Gumtree.

The TV you sold still belongs to the retailer, and they have six years to claim the money back from you if they notice. You sold something that doesn't belong to you and you should have informed the retailer of the mistake so they could have collected the item.

Anyway, it's by the by, do what you like - as I said a completely different scenario to the OP.

There's a line missing between those two. I assume you informed the company that the original had turned up and they just never bothered to collect or ask for anything?

To redeem yourself you should ring the retailer and pay for it.

Whats with all the hate on the TV poster, these companies are designed to suck millions from people, offer 'deals' with insane 1000% APR with no care if they ruin peoples lives, business, big business acts irrisponsibly. Consumerism works both ways, they take the people for what 'they' can, and vice versa, if they mess up - some billionare can't buy a beer in his local bar in paradise - its time the people got an advantage.

There is morality sure - but I can assure you, everything in the world cares not one bit about someone else, only 'self'.

If its a choose between the 'joe average' and some multi billion ££$£$£ company loosing out - the huge companies should loose, for sure.

I was going to post a retort to the redemption thing, but this has summed it up quite nicely.

Thx Squirrel

Well no it hasn't.
I'm not going to judge you because I'm not an angel but what you have done is gambled the company won't find out. Be prepared that they may turn up with the proof.

Yep, took a gamble.

I'm 50 years old, and have probably done more good in my life than the couple of 20 somethings criticising me asking for penance.

Enjoy your life, and if you find small change in the street , take it.

China 6 weeks post - id keep it wouldn't even give a second thought.
My own country retailer - probably ask them to arrange recollection but keep it if they couldn't be arsed.

Didn't know that o.O I orderer a pair of earphones a year ago, got a retail box of 6. Messaged Amazon and sent 5 back, was so tempted to sell them every couple months or so :D

To OP: either they pay for postage 1st / arrange courier, or you say you keep the item, not your fault it took 10 weeks to get to you.

I would personally return it if its within a couple of months and was of high value eg £30+

I did once order a God of War figurine that never arrived. They despatched another that did arrive. Nearly a year later... The first arrived in a mangled box. Must have fell behind something.

in the case of the OP, the onus is on them to collect it, they can't really expect you to organise and pay for shipping if it is their mistake.
In the case of the TV, that's just theft. willingess to pay/return isn't a defence in law, that being said I'm sure many on here would have done the same. (I would have returned it personally).

I would do the right thing and send it back but that's just me I guess, maybe ask the seller if they'll help out with the return postage costs? the delay in arriving might not have been the sellers fault it may just have been lost/stuck in customs.
