What am I looking at in the pics? Your bike looks fine. There's a pic of the damage on the car so surely got the reg? Confused.

Did you get reversed into?

Nope, he was parking his car and hit my handlebar with his mirror.

Close ups of the damage, its not that bad. But still... the Police said its classified as hit and run, they'll be checking if the paint on his car matches my handlebar mirror and there's a CCTV camera footage.

It had no scratches on it, now it looks like I dropped it like a knob. :(

Here's the paint from his side mirror...

If there is CCTV footage there is absolutely no way on earth that CSI are going to do a paint comparison. Wasted expense. Even without the CCTV, I doubt the expense of lab work for a very technical paint comparison examination would take place.

When the police say check I imagine they'll be looking for roughly the same colour. No way they're using time and money to send it to a lab for a bike that's been knocked over!

The worst part of the damage is front left fork leaking... I'll confirm if that fluid nearby the fork was actually the fork leaking. Will wrap some white cloth around the area and see.

Its an old bike, I would be angrier it was something along the lines of a GSXR, 848 etc.

Leaking as in it starts to drip when parked up? Or just a bit wet on the stanchion after riding? If it's just a bit wet, then get yourself a sealmate and clean it. Works a lot of the time.

Some guy in a van rolled down his window today and told me that "lane splitting" is illegal :D. Admittedly, it was a tight fit and I had to wiggle the handlebars to get by, but still.:D

I hope you corrected him. And pointed out he's not in America! :p

Is it illegal though?

No, 100% legal. But a lot of blinkered people still think it is  they class it as 'pushing to the front' or say 'you shouldn't be doing that, it's illegal!!' ignoring of course that we do it for safety and also it's saving them time as we're not a car clogging up the roads.

Maybe they should tell the 10's of police cars I've filtered past that it's 'illegal'... :D

:D

I never thought it was, if it was the London police force would have their work cut out

It's just bitter idiots who are miserabke because they're stuck in traffic and you're not.

In many parts of America it's illegal, I've subscribed to a few Motorbike YouTube channels that confirm this - but I filter all the time here, unless there are solid lines or no overtaking signs; otherwise I would make no progress at all. It can cut 20-30 minutes plus off my journey times :D

When I drive (like today) I find even I look at bikers with disdain.

"Look at that guy, filtering to the front. What a *****!" Whereas the following day I'll be doing the filtering :D
