Bad time of year to sell? or is the used hot hatch market dead?

All of them they went on bidding on eBay! So the fact people are happy to bid on them from 4.5k-5k without even looking at them first and the fact most had between 10-20k more miles on than mine proves I should easily get 4.5k ish even with the 2.5 month MOT.

Well, clearly doesn't actually prove the point at all, since it's not sold yet.

For that cheap I'd be suspicious. They might be people off-loading them due to some expensive issue, like cracked liners or the steering rack problem.

I'd do the same, the cost for Laid Up cover far outweighs the risk of it being nicked!

Sure.

I was once looking for it for my S4. For love nor money I couldn't get a decent deal for it though. One place quoted me around £600 for the year, despite zero miles on the policy. Zero miles = £600. I asked what exactly he thought the risk was here, being that it was all locked up in a garage, so not even in sight of anyone.

Not many.....;) Looks like most have sold for under 4k

Not really did you even look properly?
Mine has 84k on and is a 2006.
The following 2006 models sold as follows on eBay:
115k miles 4K
76k miles 5.9k
71k miles 5.5k
And a 5 door blue one identical to mine with 93k on went for 4.9k
Yes there was a few absolute shed's on there that went for under 4K on bidding but anyone with common sense would know they are obviously crap clapped out examples!
The book price for my car is around 4.7k private so I know when I put 12 months MOT on in Jan it will sell easily for 4.5k ;) I just tried to shift it while I was off work for a week out of convenience which I thought i could do at that price even with 2.5 months MOT but obviously not lol

How tidy is it? If it's as in excellent condition, the miles aint too bad are they, I reckon Mark @ Rev It Up would offer you perhaps even more than £4500. Tell him what you have and let him make an offer.
Sorry must have missed your post. Thanks for the info they are not far from me actually about 30 miles and they seem to be very popular.
How do they sell there ST's for so much?everytime I see an add by them it's got "Sold" next to it and they seem to be shifting 2006 models for around 6k-6.5k  most of them only have a few basic mods and a remap on them.
I'll MOT it first after Christmas and if it still doesn't sell I'll pay them a visit :D

I could let you have CAP book values, but I dont want to burst your bubble. :(
Feel free to post I'm intrigued :D while book values are mostly spot on with normal engined cars on versions like the ST they tend to sometimes be way off as cars like hot hatches etc differ on modifications, spec, colours "Orange demands a higher premium" , one owner examples etc.
I know when I had the Mondeo ST220 they were selling for practically double the book price over the last 2 years as many 220 owner on here knows. Even now because they are getting rare they are mostly 3k plus on 11 year old examples whereas the book price is probably 1.5k.

It's a 10 year old Focus, 10k extra miles is not material in terms of its value.

Advertise it with 12 months MOT, and then get the MOT done once the buyer shakes your hand. Job done.

If this was some sort of classic Lotus then perhaps waiting for the Summer might be a good idea but it's not, its a Ford Focus and its not worth messing about to get a few hundred quid more - potentially - in half a years time.

Worth a go mate, all I can say is a fellow forum member just sold his ST to Rev It Up, got a good offer considering it was a trade sale and it was quick and pain free. FAR more money than what your average dealer would offer. As good as private sale money without the hassle!

Your car does have to be in very good shape for him to buy, but to be fair mate if yours is pretty tidy he will give you a bit more I am sure, but he will want a full MOT on it :)

I've sold a car to him and the deal was done within 10 mins, no haggling or anything like that, agreed price paid instant bank transfer. Done :D

First rule of used cars: if a cardoesnt sell then it's too expensive. No ifs, no buts. That's simply how it works. You might think it's worth X, but if no-one is buying it at X then it clearly isnt.

CAP Clean is £3,875 so I think you're looking at more like £4k and that would need 12 months MOT. CAP Average is £3,600 which might reflect more what one with only two months MOT might be worth.

To echo those CAP figures, glass books this car at £3797 "hi" which agrees with that cap clean figure. £4896 retail.

£4K privately seems right for this.
