Christmas Tree

You would think with all the GM crops they would have designed trees that you buy as babies which stop growing at ~180cm and you can re-use every year, bringing it inside for a few weeks before planting outdoors again.

I prefe just white lights, can't abide flashing/coloured lights on a tree. Also tree must be real, nice full Norwegian Spruce for that lovely smell.

Probably get mine in a couple of weeks.
 
On a related note, what is the likelihood of any bugs, currently living in my (real) xmas tree, potted, kept outdoors all year, making their way into my home, if I bring it indoors this xmas?

uh, well if they're living in the tree and you bring it in, what do YOU think the liklihood is? it's not that hard a logic problem, surely??
 
I'll always prefer a real tree but we switched to one of those replica trees a few years ago (looks almost real). Makes life soooo much easier, we don't need to go round shopping for one (which was kind of nice but still a hassle) and it's easy to just take down and box up. We also used to get pine needles all over the place that took an age to clean which was a pain.

The low needle drop trees don't do it for me mainly because they are not the type of tree we had when we were younger, plus they don't seem to have that nice pine tree aroma either.

My thoughts exactly, even more since having children!

And to answer the OP's question - I think warm lights look the best. Although coloured lights can also look nice if done tastefully.

Not a fan of tinsel though!

It's an unusual fetish but if it got you through those difficult teenage years :D.

We have had the same five foot tall white fibre optic end lit tree for about six or seven years now. I keep meaning to replace it but my son loves it and it looks nice with a bit of red tinsil around it. Our cat loves attacking the lower branches too.

oh my, I feel sorry for you Ebenezer. Growing up and Christmas can't have been much fun for you. Which probably explains your dislike of the Christmas Tree. of all the things people may not like about Christmas, this is the first time I've ever heard someone express a dislike of a Christmas tree!
