So my copy arrived today. I managed to wrangle a half day holiday from work so I could get home early to play it.

Its been a long time since I've played a Final Fantasy game, so the non turn based combat was a bit jarring at first. I'm kinda getting into it now though. Its also so weird seeing characters using smartphones, considering the fantasy/magic settings common in past games.

One thing I didn't like was the ingame cutscene that shows the fall of Insomnia. Its basically a few clips from the Kingsglaive movie, edited together with music playing over it. I got the basic idea of what was happening, but it felt very incomplete. It actually made me stop the game and go watch the Kingsglaive movie first, so I could get a more complete idea of the backstory and the events that lead up to the start of the game

Can't wait for the weekend. Then I'll really be able to sink my teeth into this :D

I cancelled my pre-order a while back, all was too quite about this game. Give it some time and i will see if its worth getting, not enjoyed a FF since 8.

I did something similar; I decided to watch the anime mini-series as it was clear that the audience is supposed to understand the friendship between these characters.

I think Kingsglaive and the anime are required to enjoy this game fullly (provided you're in it for the story).

Is it me, or does this game just look not good at all on the Pro? I have high quality enabled in the game and HDR.

Looks like they've gone way too far with texture filtering or anti-aliasing. Complete lack of detail on textures.

I am around 4 hours in now and I am really enjoying it.
Love the world / lore but I can't imagine playing it without watching Kingsglaive / brotherhood first, baffling decision!

Home from work...... game downloaded...... Is it too early to put the kids to bed ?? :D eager to get started on this !!!

I've taken your advice - half way through at the moment and it's actually very good so far. I'm a good deal more hyped for the game now.

Just completed my first hunt to earn some gil. Was quite a tough little fight, but my team took the monsters out in the end. I'm getting into this combat style now. Its so much more free flowing than I'm used to from FF games.

I'm going to stop playing this for now in the hope that the patch in December does something to improve the graphical quality, it's ruining my enjoyment of the game.

Am a little dumbfounded why others are not picking up on this. The big issue I have is with the blur, blur everywhere. Seems like they've over used anti aliasing and it just makes the textures within the game look ridiculously low detailed. It looks awful.

Other issues I have are with general graphical glitches on distant landmasses, water and reflections are often seen.

Someone on this forum mentioned how bad they thought Watch Dogs 2 looked, got to be kidding. Watch Dogs 2 looks incredible compared to this.

This has to be the worst PS4 Pro supported game that I've seen.

Not really a spoiler question, but has anyone worked out how long the status boosting meals that Ignis makes actually last? And do they stack? Or does making one overwrite any that was made before?

Poverty spec PS4 here

I've noticed its all a bit... grainy, distant textures look fairy crappy, but I put that down to this being the first console game I've played in a long time and being spoiled by PC

But on the whole, I would say its a good looking game especially for open world.

There are icons with bars under them. I cant really remember where, but they are on the screen at all times, so you should be able to see them if you look for them. and they dont stack

Yeah I did see the icon bellow the characters. But it doesn't really indicate how long it gives you. I'd guess maybe an ingame day?

Really enjoying the game so far, I probably spend far too much time exploring the wilderness and not actually progressing the story but the game doesn't seem to have any sense of urgency to it so I'm happy with my leisurely trips across the map.

I haven't had any issues with the graphics so far, though I'm on the base PS4 so I may just be used to the graphical quality that the machine can output.

It seems that the boosts from meals last for a full day if you're doing nothing, the strength boost seems to get warn down by attacking so Id imagine they all have some form of action that reduces how long the boost lasts.
