EFL Cup - Quarter-Final ** Spoilers ** [29 - 30 November 2016]

Not half bad, need to start doing this in the league though too.

Definitely

Don't think we missed Pogba at all today, he's not really warranted a starting place besides his price tag.

Mhkitaryan on the other hand, he showed us again today why he should be starting every game.

Pogba has been good lately. Mourinhos team selection on the other hand has been very odd. Put Pogba in that side to replace Carrick/ Rooney and thats a very good side. The big difference has been have Mkhitaryan in the side. Everyone seems to be enjoying their football and working for the team again.

Christ, even valencia was brilliant tonight. Hes taking men on, contributing hugely in attack and reasonably solid in defence.

e: Great draw in the semis for us.

Another excellent performance but with the goals this time.

Happy with that draw but would have preferred Liverpool. Would rather go out to them in the semi's than get beat in the final.

I honestly don't know where Pogba would play in a setup like that. I'd rotate him with Herrera.

Semi-Final draw:

Manchester United v Hull City
Southampton v Liverpool

Semi-Final first legs are due to be played the week commencing 9th January 2017, with the second legs then taking place during the week commencing 23rd January 2017.

United were very wasteful in the 1st half and let WHU back into the game (one of DDG's few mistakes, so its hard to be too critical), fortunately we came out in 2nd half and blew them away - with a little help from WH themselves.

Mkhi was fantastic all game and really glad Martial got 2, hopefully he can push on from here

Adrian should have been sent off within 2 minutes, that "tackle" on Ibra could have been really nasty

Herrera has done really well this season, but Utd do need a direct replacement for Carrick - understandably for a position he isnt used to / has got limited experience of , he does get found out

Liverpool v United final would be something.

I can imagine Jose wanting to put the team coach in goal and leave de Gea at home.

I believe we're planning to buy a CB in Jan transfer window so that could mean Blind at CM? Really need a set in stone position for him :D

Also Jones is doing pretty well..

Not sure how serious Smalling's toe injury is? :p

With Bailly back in the fold soon that should be defence sorted.

Bailly will barely be back before he's off to African Nations surely. I don't really know what to think of Jones really, he's done ok but can't help thinking he's just an injury waiting to happen.

Think Positive :D

So far he hasn't dived into any challenges like he used to..

.

Im not sure Blind is strong enough to have a central role like that, too short and wirey imo which is why left full back suits him better in the EPL imo

He does read the game very well (apart from that 2nd City goal earlier this season), but Im just not sure how we can fit him in to a starting postion when everyone is fully fit - so is really only a squad member at best

I think he'd be fine as the holding / cleanup player in a 3, basically the Carrick role, so something like:

Blind
Herrera - Pogba
Mkhi - Ibra - Martial
