What film did you watch last night?

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Was a decent movie. Maybe a touch too long and the ending was a bit by the books Hollywood. These are minor quibbles though.

7/10

Interstellar for like the 10th time - 9.5/10

Pretty much a masterpiece. So much so that I'll probably not watch another film for a week now because it'll take me so long to find something worthy of coming next.

I love Interstellar, the sound track, the visuals, the film generally. It's definitely up there for me with the best sci-fi films I've seen.

Only thing that bugs me about it is:

I think the ending was contrived, he should have died saving humanity in my opinion, stupid Hollywood endings where everything magically works out.

Yeah, I hate the fact most films have to have happy endings, despite the fact that having the reverse would be so much more powerful. Arrival's ending was pretty devastating, and all the better for it.

Anyway..

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Pretty good overall, but I prefer the Potter timeline. It will be interesting to see where they take it.

I did at times feel like this was a long episode of Dr Who for some reason... maybe because of Newt's character, with his dress, and very ott English bumbling nature would be a good fit for that role.

Your an 'Interstellar' fan and you thought THAT ending was contrived?? Come on dude xD

Though, I guess it's not so much contrived as it is just poorly executed.

I love the film but I am entitled to my opinion on it, good or bad, if people agree or not.

It's a common problem with lots of films not just Interstellar, when I see a film or tv show which bucks the trends and does the unexpected I am usually happy to see it, because it makes things a bit less predictable.

Of course, not trying to belittle your opinion my friend. Just saying that, despite my own love for 'Interstellar', the ending is a plate of fresh guff xD

I agree about FB's ending. Though I felt the Grindelwald reveal was worse then Newt actually surviving, which I generally didn't have an issue with. The story needs him, especially if a lot of the fan theories are correct (which I suspect they are).

The Revenant

Such a poor film, so slow it's one that I shall put on again if I want to nod off.

2/10

It's a flick that should only really exist on the big screen. Went to see it multiple times at the flicks and loved it more each time. Got it on Blu Ray and... meh. 'Inarritu' is such a great Director, that cannot be denied. But his films certainly require a cinema viewing to be properly appreciated not too mention a degree in film studies xD

Watched Sausage Party the other night.

I enjoy childish vulgar humour, sorry but I just do! With this movie however, they seem to have forgotten the humour so it was just unfunny and vulgar.

Mrs Punt and I managed about thirty minutes before we turned it off and beleive me, we've watched some rubbish before!

1/10, it gets the one point for having the balls to try something like this, shame it failed miserably.

Bad Santa 2 (2016) - 1/10
Dire, unfunny and boring. A “family” of bitter and foul mouthed crooks swear a lot and perform crude sex acts and attempt humour via crude sex references and their hatred of each other.

The heist plot is too simple to be interesting with little else going on in the film.

The acting isn’t great either – apart from the Christmas music, nothing to recommend.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them -- 5.5/10 (I was looking for noir with magic or Darwin with beasts, I got neither.)
Westworld -- 7/10
Futureworld -- 4/10 (Oh, Lordy, the soundtrack!!! And the childish ending!)
Every Day Is Like Sunday -- 6/10 (Documentary about the other DM)

I read an interview that she apparently doesn't like doing nude scenes, and she is a very shy person, considering how often she does them, she even admits it is very paradoxical.

She's certainly facing her fears that's for sure

.............and I for one thank her for that! :D

Warcraft - 3/10 - Not played the game so went into this untainted but ye gods it's bad. The CGI is actually decent which is why it gets a 3/10 but the story, acting, direction etc, just awful and, from people who should know better, it's a big disappointment.

Blood Father - 7/10 - Mel Gibson is back and he's just "jump off the screen" awesome. It feels refreshing to see his type of acting back with only really Hugh Jackman as Wolverine coming close to it. His daughter is extremely poorly acted though and the story is as old as time which loses the film a few points but really, the film just revolves around Gibson.
