Broad street Birmingham car access Sat night/Sun morning

When I used to live and go out there a lot around 2-3 years ago there was definitely access for cars
However mostly a bunch of rented super cars speeding up and down blasting the ghetto music all night!

I used to enjoy driving down after picking my girlfriend up from work on a Friday/Saturday night and seeing the sights. That's been ruined now that they're doing these works :(

There are currently no restrictions on private vehicles on Broad Street, I believe the only thing they divert are buses after 2100.

It's always busy but you've got the start of the Xmas market, ferris wheel and ice rink just by the new library which I imagine will make Walkabout and Brindley Place very busy for most of the evening. Nice to visit though!

You could get picked up around Ryland Street or Sheepcote Street (slightly closer) which are up towards Five Ways roundabout. Little walk, maybe 5 mins tops from most of the busy. Since Gatecrasher and Tescos closed its much quieter once you go towards that end of the road.

Avoid it was unbelievably busy last weekend - literally unable to walk down the road

 I had no problems between 10.30pm and 1.30am last weekend. I managed to get a taxi in 5 mins of queuing. That's unusual for the first week of December.

Thanks I'll look into alternatives.

What sort of time was this at?

I had to drop my mum off at her Christmas party on Broad Street last weekend (Saturday), and it was absolute chaos, took me ages to get onto Broad Street, and even longer to get back off it. Dropped them off at about 7, and picked them up just after midnight

OP: You should be fine for a taxi, if you walk to the other end of Brindley Place (towards Nuvo bar), you can usually get an Uber/regular taxi very easily as they can bypass a lot of the traffic and drive around the back of the ICC.

Traffic is chaos in the centre during rush hour and the early evening, but by 2am you'll be fine. There are loads of side streets near Broad St that you can use if the driver has difficulty, but you should be able to stop outside or at least very close to any of the establishments there. As far as I know there aren't any restrictions on Broad Street itself. What time does your gig finish? Just trying to think of slightly better options for your evening... although I'm embarrassed to say that Reflex was a lot of fun the last time I went!

I'm not sure when the gig finishes, usually about 11 I think so a few drinks then home. I'll book the car later and work out a side street post code to give them. Thanks for the advise all.

If you're at the Genting Arena and just fancy a few drinks (no crazy clubbing), I suppose you could check out the casino bar/Sky Bar - it was quite good when I last went and surprisingly busy. Might save having to travels miles into Brum city centre. There's also Solihull city centre which has a few late night bars and is probably a little nearer.

Much easier to get into the town centre on the train. I haven't been to resort world but have heard decent reports.

I've heard about that place, I'll ask the lads after work - cheers.

Yeah I was gonna say it's probably easy to get the train from Birmingham International into New Street, but I don't actually know what time the trains stop running :p

Resorts World is a bit of a let down for shopping, but the casino and bar are decent, plus there's a Las Iguanas that does (or did) an all day 2 for 1 happy hour on Cocktails. Don't remember much after a couple of those but I do remember it being a decent evening :D
