Overwatch

Yea I've been playing solo q this whole time on competitive and really suffering from it.

I've got stuck down in silver now where it seems like hell. Terrible troll picks and constant hate around the place.

Drop me an add if you would like Kearney88#2251

It doesn't get any better I am afraid :p You have to brute force your way out of Tiers. I've been struggling to break from 29xx to 3xx+ in all of Season 2 and 3.

Total luck of the draw on who you get drafted with.

For example - This game I am in has a Top 500 player on the enemy team, who plays Torb and AFKs all match.

placed 1500 and have ground upto 2200, have been playing mainly support this season as it seems it is always the bottom of everyone's pick list.
Have a few people i play with when they are on but played with a premade of 5 that ended up inviting me and going on a cracking run, im 56W-9D-41L so hoping for platinum this season.

Since my earlier rant I've got 7 wins and 1 loss, seems I'm good enough at this level to carry the team as DPS or D.VA/Roadhog a lot of the time. A problem is still when nobody picks support beacause I feel the need to pick one and don't do as well with those characters usually.

Hog is massive at this low level because he's so good at punishing the numerous positioning mistakes players make

I'm still on the way down, now at just under 2,300 SR after placing 2,800 and struggling to remember the last time I actually won a game...

SoloQ, group of 2, 3, 4... full 6-man.... EU, NA servers... various times of day... nothing matters it's just lose lose lose (and even without carrying on once tilted; tend to stop for a while after a couple of losses in a row)... Starting to get fed up with the game to be honest... In the past I've had losing streaks but just about persevered and eventually things have started to level out but this time it's just ridiculous

I decided to have a go at competitive, wanted to practice a bit before trying properly. I won 6 and lost 4, giving me a SR of 2080 ish. No idea if that's good or bad, I suspect the latter.

Question - is it solely W/L which affects SR, or if you are consistently the worst player in a good team, or equally the best in a bad team does that affect it too?

We've been doing away with the meta-elitist crap recently. Mate and I have got fed up with all this 2-2-2 with only certain characters allowed (Phara, Solider, McCree and Reaper mainly as the DPS). Tracer/Sombre combo decimated on both attack and defence although we did get a lot of abuse. Followed by a Widow/Hanzo combo where again, we won and then our own team accused us of aimbotting!?!?!?

Woop woop under 2,000 now... I think I'm done

You have no idea how much I have bounced between 29xx and 23xx. once you get into a certain area it's nothing but mouth breathing fools.

I just had a 29xx Average SR game and we got given a 22xx Gold because of a 2 man premade. Blizzard needs to get a clue and restrict premade SR disparity in ranked, at least near the upper end of the bracket.

But any decent enemy team would absolutely destroy either of those gimmick compositions, which is what they are - gimmicks.

There is a reason Tracer and Sombra (Hanzo and Widow for that matter) are rarely, if ever, picked in high end comp. It's because they are ineffective. The issue is with low ranked groups thinking that the 'meta' is a guaranteed win when they actually don't understand how to composition their team then play it.

I'm just getting into this game and have to admit it's so much fun! I can't seem to get used to the character combos mind you and we always tend to lack support or healers but having played MMORPGs previously I'm not so willing to sacrifice my own fun to chase randoms around trying to help them!

getting really bored of playing with complete idiots - attack torbs in games that we could win, teams that only want to DPS.

Stuck at ~1400, and a complete kick in the balls was my mate that decided to join our group to a game when I was getting a drink - I got kicked and it too 50 points from me for that grrrrrr

Granted on the Sombra but Tracer is picked at high end because she is effective when used well. That being said all charas can say this but Tracer used well is very good at killing supports which is always a good thing and the current rank heavy meta doesn't really do anything to stop her.

Doing placement matches...

3 wins
3 draws
3 losses

Found it very annoying that 2 of the 3 loses were because I had multiple people leave the game :( and one of the draws was when someone kept disconnecting and reconnecting effectively rendering them useless on the final defence. Called it a night and will do the final placement match tonight.... Not holding out any hope for a half decent rank at the end of it :p

Checking in here for the first time :-) Been playing quite a lot of OW recently (currently lvl ~320), bouncing around 2600SR.

I think the best way to go up ranks is to figure out what you're good at. I, for example, know I'm a terrible Mccree (even though he's my most played hero - I was stupid when I started). My aim isn't the best (even though I've practiced!) and I tend to do much better with soldier (if filling the same role as he's more forgiving).

If you're struggling to rank up under 3000 SR find a friend and duo Pharmercy every match - people under 3k lack the aim to deal with her and you can literally wipe teams by yourselves. I have a very good friend who got placed at ~3800SR (we play a lot of QM together because of the 500SR difference cap) and everytime there's a good pharah on the other team we just ask him to play mccree and someone will hop on zen too.

Give it a go! If anyone around 2k-3k wants to do some comp I'll be more than happy to join in :-)

made it to plat yesterday from 1900 t0 2568 playing only soldier with a mate playing dva, 11 wins 1 loss 1 tie :) he went from 1800 to 2500 too.

Only 1 game where a guy on the other side just typed GG EZWIN 4 U and in protest to being paired with 3 silvers despite having a "plat emblem" he trolled and continued his heroic drop down the ELO. The other games were all good games some we rolled because the teams just molded. Shutting them out of the point then taking the first point super quick with a co-ordinated push.

Towards the end of the streak i was getting + 105 pts for a win.

attack torbs suck :( I tried playing support and tank for people at 1900-2100 elo it's impossible if the DPS's suck. So I just decided to run DPS I played a lot of soldier when i started. So I just do damage too everything, it's amazing how much longer your tanks stay alive when you're helping them and keeping up the pressure instead of trying to be the hero. When i was playing DVA i was finding that 3 people were flanking and the supports were trying too hard to support them that i was useless.

I recommend partnering up with 1 or 2 people not more than 3. (after 3 the focus becomes on your team play as at 3 you're still in soloQ territory)

I find with 3 you can control enough of the team picks run 1 healer 1 tank and 1 dps and work together. cover your tank and your tank will cover you. obviously the healer has to help all but honestly if you and your tank work well enough together the lack of co-ordination in your opponents will allow you to take control and your team mates will fall in line they always do.

Solo Q is a nightmare at all levels tbh i imagine the losses are silly down at that ELO but honestly you still get idiots in soloQ up at 2000 i lost 5 games on the trot yesterday morning. before starting my climb.

I'm at about 2400 at the moment.
I run Ana or Lucio almost every game, so you you want a support add me up. I'd love a reliable DPS/tank of around my level to group with. I think ideally a 3-stack would be the sweet spot (if you get a group of 6 you only play groups of 6, and some of them will be much tougher).

If we could get dps/tank/healer in a group then we could balance some of the randomness.

Great minds!

I enjoyed playing healers in MMO's in the past, particularly in dungeons etc. Loved playing a priest in WoW.

Does this game basically have the same mechanic re healing as WoW etc?

Apologies for the noob question but this game has passed me by for some reason but I'm now thinking of trying it out...

Any advice re. a healing build to use? Or is it just better to browse the game forums to find out?
