Did Pewdiepie delete his youtube account? !! !

It is quite amazing that with all the potential revenue, youtube still cannot utilised to create a professional "serious" range of channels earning millions - you know - YT should be full of standups doing their (local in terms of country) Daily Show With Jon Stewart like commentary/satire, minor press/young journalists doing Q&A with politicians and small labels/promotors doing weekly sessions/festivals with pre-major-label bands. And yet, it doesn't happen. It's seems the only people willing to succeed with it and get hundreds of millions of views are always some exhibitionist drama queen with Munhausen syndrome, some gamer nerd or some American Idol drop out belching out cover of the month in her basement while wearing sports bra.

Because as much as everyone like yourself pretends to be interested in that kind of stuff to seem all cultured you dont ****ing watch it.

Out of interest what sort of stats did you have for that income with YT. Would be interested and also point to the boy here some real stats about how hard it is against the potential income. Not that I wan him not to do it but I'm not sure if he thinks money grows on tree's

About 300 subscribers, a few thousand views at most. It's a snowball thing really, once it takes off it really takes off.

If those complaints are correct and google changed the algorithm that made youtube the organic hit it is, then that's the exact opposite of what "cutting the cord" media like youtube should be. It first created a situation where it was impossible for small media creator (let's call it next "Charlie Bit My Finger") to become viral unless they were carried by a heavy hitter and appeared in Suggested Videos next to that heavy hitter, which in turn meant that Charlie that bit the finger didn't get advertising revenue off tens of millions of viewers, but a lot of "Top 10 funny cat videos this week" aggregators made a proper killing off their video. And now the changes to algo again (promoting viewer retention and come back), mean that it would have to be "Top 10 funny cat videos today" or even "twice a day" to elevate to their previous numbers, and with treadmill running this fast even the likes of PiewDiePie cannot manufacture volume required and you need to be a large TV studio with 100's of staff to regain that 30-40% loss created by changes to Suggested Videos section.

Had to laugh that he properly wound up the media about it.

His Skate 3 videos always crack me up. His newer stuff is terrible though.

He really annoys me and I'm not sure why he is so popular. His videos are incredibly annoying and cringey to watch.

The only 'big' YouTube channel I watch is Robbaz.

So what you saying, we now live in a trashy society?

I disagree with the word "now" in that sentence. Most relatively free societies were and are trashy that that sense, including the ones now generally seen as images of refinement, like Victorian England or classical Rome. I remember being surprised at the first example of Roman graffiti I saw, back when I was learning Latin. Firstly that there was Roman graffiti and secondly that it was a "I was here" graffito. I don't recall the person's name, but that's all it was. Then there are the insults, the recommendations for prostitutes, the comments on toilet walls about the writer's bowel movements...trashy. Or Victorian England - yes there were opera houses and other refined entertainment, but there were much bigger audiences for people singing rude songs in music halls. Trashy entertainment generally has a bigger audience (when it's allowed) than education and more refined entertainment.

Ah right. Adblock and Ghostery stop these people from making millions ? I'm good with that.

Seriously. I still can't understand how ads on You Tube can generate millions.

Is there a whole world of retarded people buying into everything that's advertised?

Gamer vbloggers also get donations directly from peeps.

Some have had donations as large as 50k at once.

He's usually all over the trending section so unless you are selectively blind I doubt you wouldn't know who he is, especially lately. Hes been in a lot of news articles.

Hes probably trying to be an Edgelord. There is no other reason to go into a thread of someone you don't know, ignore all the posts and then say "who is he?".

"If I pretend to not know who he is people might like me".

I really dislike Boogie2988. He creates absolutely nothing of merit and anyone who finds Francis funny needs to take a good long look in the mirror. All he does is make money out of pity for his obesity, which he never makes a sincere attempt to change. He's so cynical about it I wonder how anyone can believe he's sincere.

Any man who turns himself into a the internet equivalent of a freak show with a "look at me, I'm so fat and unhappy" mantra is not worthy of respect.

As others have said this bloke is doing vids for KIDS ! I can't imagine any Adults watching this bloke and his random vids , I can't stand him , I watch the likes of Casey & i must admit I am gutted that he has stopped daily blogging , I now watch Mr Ben Brown & Jon Olsson is my new Top YouTuber to watch , 4k travel blogs and his GF is Hot :) Ha. & he drives a Lamborghini

Oldies not understanding what kids are into these days shocker. :D As above said it's aimed at kids/young teenagers and fair play to the guy he has done rather well for himself. I'm not sure if some of you realise this, but he's probably not the persona he plays on his channel in real life.

He annoys the crap out of me, but again, fair play for making money out of little talent.

My GF watches a channel called SimplyNailogical, pretty much about nail polish/art/etc, and the host is a lady name Cristine. Now I have no interest in the topic, but I'll be damned if Cristine's brand of surreal humour doesn't tickle my funny bone, moreso than many stand-ups I see on tv.
