Can't decide between these two. Going to be hooking my PS4 Pro up to one of these. Deep Black levels and nice colours are important to me(I ahte washed out screens. The Sammy is 49 inches while the Sony is 55 not bothered by size too much. Can anyone chip in regarding these?

HDTVTEST, RTINGS, and AVFORUMS (not to be confused with the american avsforums).

those 3 sites have all the info you need on tv's, the reviews are done by professional calibrators.

it's not like headphones where it's down to the persons ears. they are tested using professional meters worth thousands. those 3 sites will give you all the information you need to make your own choice.

Have a look at the new Hisense models, avforums have reviewed a few recently.

The kk5510 is a good price at the moment or you can push the boat out for the M7000 series. You'll get a 65" M7000 for the same price as the 55" KS7000, so if it'll fit that's a no brainer!

Beware the 55 8005 is you like your blacks.

I knew going in it was Ips and I'd have to put up with some washed out blacks. It's actually pretty decent head on, but the glow when viewed off angle vertically is pretty terrible.

I've only got it as a temporary measure until maybe 2018, as if I didn't buy something then I'd never sleep. (I become obsessed).

Apart from that off angle glow, it's pretty good. Nice colour and I was blown away how good planet earth 2 looked on it.

Was mostly pleased with the Martian in hdr. Again, from head on, it's decent.

I just wish manufactures would just ditch ips for TVs now.

I don't get how people moan about the viewing angles for va when ips has just as much of an issue (or worse).

Is the first ips I have had in years, and reminded me exactly why I never wanted one again. Like I said though, is temporary until I think hdr has settled into something resembling standards and manufacturers got back lighting sorted for mid level teles

I can't recommend Samsung's UHD TVs highly enough, and from a quick look at the KS7000 reviews it's another great TV. It will be particularly good for you seeing as you're hooking it up to a PS4, because Samsung TVs have some of the lowest input lag of any manufacturer. Plus the Tizen OS is much better than the naff Android OS that the Sony TVs ship with.

I think Android TV is brilliant. Easy to set up, linked to the majority of my digital life and the voice control is spot on.

I have the Song TV and I'm very happy. I came from a Panasonic plasma so the blacks were always going to be worse but actually it's a lot better than I thought and close to unnoticeable now I'm used to it.

I bought one in a sale with 25% off 2 days ago. Using as a PC monitor and im very happy but feet/stand are very wide. 4K content look amazing on it... HDR even better. Good luck

Popped into Currys to physically compare the 7000 and 8000. Getting the latter + Samsung sound bar. Yet to order, have clearance to get 65" but reckon the Mrs will go mental when she sees how big it is in the house!

Might settle for 55. And yeah, between the very low latency and quantum dot technology the Samsung KS series are a no brainer. You'd be forgiven for mistaking it for OLED.

The kk5510 is a good price at the moment or you can push the boat out for the M7000 series. You'll get a 65" M7000 for the same price as the 55" KS7000, so if it'll fit that's a no brainer!

Had a quick look at them and they do look really good for the price, but what are the response times, lag etc like on them? Also after a quick Google it seems to say the M7000 is only a 50hz panel? Also have they updated yet to allow hdr? As I've read that it wasn't supported over hdmi at first and was awaiting a firmware update

There's the summary from the avforums M5500 review. They also have a K5510 review (essentially same tv as M5500) and M7000 review. The info should be in there.

It's not a perfect TV, but what TV is......... Kuro... cough cough :p

If you want to fawn over a handful of HDR demos and plan to keep this as your main TV for many years, then this probably isn't for you. But then again, who knows which format of HDR will come of age, so many TVs out there now might not be that future proof, be it a cheap hisense or expensive OLED set.

What I can say is that these new Hisense tvs are a bargain, especially if you get a 5yr in store warranty.

Avforums M5500 Review said:
The simple answer is that if you're on a tight budget and want a large screen Ultra HD TV that also supports HDR to some degree, then the M5500 is certainly worth considering. We're fairly sure you won't find a better 65-inch 4K model for the price and for that you get a well built TV with a great set of features. There are enough connections for most purposes, an effective remote control and a Smart TV platform that, whilst simple, includes most of the apps that you'll need. The platform is slick and responsive and the 31ms input lag means that gamers won't be disappointed either.

The greyscale and colour accuracy was excellent, especially after calibration and the video processing was also very good. The black levels and contrast ratios were impressive for an LCD TV, the motion handling was reasonable and the viewing angles weren't too restrictive. So what's the catch? Well the backlight uniformity was poor and unfortunately this affected the otherwise excellent contrast ratios. The HDR performance was also vey limited, with little of the wide colour gamut or specular highlights of which the format is capable.

The HDR support is a nice thing to have at the price point but the reality is that you won't find any TV at less than £1,000 that can really deliver a full HDR experience, let alone one that has a 65-inch screen size. Besides, the M5500's capabilities with standard dynamic range content are far more important because that's primarily what you will be watching for the next few years. In that sense the Hisense delivered an impressive performance and it's only the patchy backlight that lets it down. If the backlight uniformity had been better the Hisense H65M5500 would have been an easy Best Buy but it's a solid Recommended instead.

What are my alternatives?

At this price point we're not really sure there are many alternatives, in fact we don't think there are any. You will struggle to find a 65-inch screen size that has all the features found on the M5500 for anything like the same price and in reality you'll be looking at models over the £1,000 price point before you begin to get close. There's no doubt that Hisense have certainly delivered a very solid TV at an exceptional price in the form of the H65M5500 and we are now very excited to see how the higher end M7000 performs
.

Cheers -Ad- I really wanted the Samsung ks7000 series but with this time of year plus I have had to buy new sofas and bed, the misses wasn't too happy when she seen the £1k price tag lol these hisense ones look really good for the price and I've just noticed debenhams sell them and I can get discount with them through my work (some partnership thingy) which would get me the 55 M7000 for £650! What you reckon? would the Samsung be worth the extra £400? (I think I already know the answer lol)

No problem, glad I could help.

Well, I'd be looking at it from the same viewpoint as you :D

£100 cheaper than in shops with your discount makes it a bargain, especially as the extra money for the Samsung could buy you nearly 2/3 of another Hisense 55M7000.

I used to be a pixel peeper and be very anal about PQ, but these days the LCD edge lit sets no matter how good they are, are sit edge lit sets and for me spending thousands on one seems like a poor investment.

You can get a great TV and you've managed to put money towards the new sofa instead, something you'll get more out of than a little Samsung badge on the front of the soundbar.

I just bought the 55ks7000 for 949 from JL . Priced matched with Black Friday.

Amazing picture. I couldn't justify the price oled just yet maybe in few years

The M7000 gaming mode input lag is 38ms and you can't use HDR with it, so in HDR mode the input lag is 54ms - compare that to 21ms in gaming mode on the KS7000 with HDR enabled.

Cheers guys. Sonny I checked out rose links they were helpful and gave me all the info I needed.

I went with the 49 inch KS7000. I'm excited to try it. Yeah man when your KS7000 arrives let me know how you get on. There's always something about Samsung TV's that have so much life and vividness to their TV's that really stand out.

Something else for me to consider, although I have never used game mode on any of my tv's, mostly due to it disabling a lot of picture options

You should turn it off Dynamic mode to save both your eyesight and the country from radioactive fallout :p

Hehe

Yeah they look good whilst you are looking at them for 2 minutes in a bright store like Currys, but you soon realise that you wouldn't want to watch TV like that for hours on end.

Same with all screens really, but if they looked 'normal' then they wouldn't stand out in the store.

Only thing I don't like about the KS7000, are the feet being far apart instead of central.

All good though if you have a wide enough stand.
