EgyptAir flight from Paris to Cairo missing

Ome thing i wluld like to know is the plane transmitted these error codes and pilots are told to fly the plane before they get on the radio.

Could they not have a big red button, hit it snd the plane starts broadcasting its gps across a range of frequencies (and the ones it sends those error codes) updating every few seconds.

Would give a much better aproximation of the location

What about steel cylinder holted to the side, water detector, large automatically chemically inflated airbag

Doesnt matter how heavy it is even a fairly small airbag will make it float

It would have to be inflated near the surface, But could work.

They should have an additional black box on the exterior of the aircraft that can eject itself with a parachute and or floatation device if there is an imminent ocean crash

And a script which transmits and compiles all pertinent data into an OcUK post so that our expert investigators can solve the mystery before the hull hits the surface.

Unfortunately it's very difficult (and costly) to retro-fit something like this. Plus it introduces extra maintenance hours and cost, airworthiness issues and a whole raft of complex testing to ensure it has no effect on the handling or performance of the aircraft.

We had an external "black Box" (CVR/FDR) on the Merlin Mk3 Helicopter and it was a nightmare to fit as the aircraft skin was too thin to support the weight with the extra airflow so it cracked everywhere and thicker skin increases the weight reducing performance etc. Now imagine a pressure sealed container with those same issues, not ideal!

Didn't they speculate at the time that it was groundstaff smuggling a device airside and stowing it in the hold ?

Dont think it was for this flight but for another plane that flew out of Egypt?

Maybe it was already on board from flying out of Egypt just a case of not being checked

I would be surprised if ground staff could smuggle a bomb through Paris airport surely security very tight

Every time something like this happens and there's no claim of responsibility I think of Jack Reacher and Narcos. As in, who was on that plane that someone wanted dead so much that the collateral was worth it.
