HMP Birmingham

It just goes to show how politically correct and idiotic our society has become "ohh the poor prisoners won't somebody please think of the prisoners" as far as I'm concerned **** them! if you can't do the time don't do the crime! Prison time should be bloody hard and and a derterant not a cake walk like it's currently is and the sooner you bleeding heart liberals understand that the better!

It's worrying that people think it's just that simple.

I worked in HMP Brixton for about 6 months. The vast majority in there weren't rapists and murderers as sime in this thread seem to believe. They were all people who simply messed up at some point. DUI, bar fights, that kind of thing.

Try telling that to the DM fanboys we have here. I hope none of them ever have the misfortune of committing a crime and being sent to prison.

I'd like to see there opinions then on how prison is a holiday camp.

+1

Opinion has been stifled by progressive so called politics over the past 15 years. You cant talk about anything anymore without being a labelled bigot/racist/homophobic/Xenophobic and multitudes of other phobes.

Not saying any of the above are right/wrong but discussion has left the building or on its way out via the fire exit.

Discussion is alive and well as countless posts here are proof to. The way the right wing is going though discussion will be gone in the future.

It is, moral people don't commit crimes and go to jail

It's easy making big sweeping statements like this, but peoples lives can take very different paths. Being born into poverty or abuse can lead to a twisted take on the world.

A repeat offending shop lifter isn't quite the same as a rapist. A drug addict doesn't have quite the same control as a normal sane person.

I definitely think people deserve prison sentences but I dont think its a good idea for prison to be absolute hell. People are going into prison and getting hooked on dodgy drugs and ending up worse than they were when they went in. Thats not ideal .

That's a bit like saying "Healthy people don't go to hospital".

Not really every single person on this planet has FREE WILL so you can choose to be a good moral person and not commit crimes! If you commit crimes you deserve everything that comes your way. Pretty simple really isn't it

I was born into poverty my parents didn't have 2 pence to rub together but I was brought up properly taught right from wrong. I made the choice not to touch drugs of shoplift when my friends were doing it, As I said we all have free will and a choice whether to do right or wrong.

Does free will matter if you're mentally ill and not capable of making sound decisions? What free will does someone have who's grown up in a broken home of drugs, crime and lack of opportunities? How are they supposed to know the right thing from the wrong thing if they're always in contact with the wrong thing?

People are the way they are for a whole host of complex reasons, you can't just pin it on free will and expect everyone to choose the same thing.

Stupidity and ignorance are wonderful to behold. I like to just sit back and enjoy the show. People don't realize how stupid they make themselves look, it's rather amusing. Always the same people too.

Ohh wont someone protect the poor unfortunate prisoners " there must be a reason why they are committing crimes", another bleeding heart liberal

Why not just put all dangerous prisoners in a medically induced coma for their entire sentence / until parole hearings?
That way it is neither torture nor a holiday camp plus no more riots or escapes.

I like it, you can take charge of prisons in my new world order. Along with the NHS.

The UK human rights laws protect prisoners - as did the reforms and later the laws brought in by Elizabeth Fry.

`cruel and unusual punishment` have been outlawed since 1689 and the right to a trial by jury since 1215.

Evidence shows however locking people up doesnt help.

Actually all you get hear is evidence shows.

You are never shown the actual data, or the evidence apart from the words Scandinavia.

So as i am a tolerant person 3 strikes then you are gassed.

Anyone can make a mistake (fair enough)
Twice is pushing it

3rd Time bye bye

Mental illness aside of course, That is just down to really bad goverment policy, and penny pinching. Of course this then gets taken the **** out of by liberals when Labour gets into power.

All the balance in the world has gone.
