What film did you watch last night?

Rouge One.

Absolutely loved it.
Exactly why I love Star Wars.

I loved how they didn't focus on the jedi, and light saber duels. And instead focused on the rebels.
The droid whom I cant remember the name was perfect. Was actually a character I was happy to have, and made me think of the way other characters and r2d2-c3po was handled in episodes I II and III

Vader though, was perfect. Screen time was short and sweet. And portrayed his character so damn well. You got a sense of fear and power that was needed imo

Loved it. Loved ep IV V and VI. Force awakens was great.
The only thing I was bummed me about was that ep I II and III wernt made like this.

Star Wars: Rogue One - 5/10 - I loved The Force Awakens (9/10) and I loved the "war film" nature of the last 1/3 of this film but, for me, the rest of the story was poorly edited together, had some ropey facial CGI and a poor score which stopped me enjoying it as much as I'd wanted to.

There was a lot that worked well but they weren't enough, for me, to overcome the lacking parts.

Kubo & the two strings

A really nice film, animation was superb especially for stop motion (the scale of the first "boss" model shown during the credits.. wow!).

Can't really fault it, would watch again.

8.5/10

(Thanks Phate, watched it off the back of your comments below)

Kubo & the two strings 9/10 - Mind, blown. The stop animation was quite frankly, incredible. The best I've ever seen. You forget it's stop motion times. All the voice actors were fantastic. The characters were great and loveable. MM was hilarious. The perfect voice for it. The story was brilliant and beautiful. My animated movie of 2016 for me. Fell in love with this one.

Snowden - 8.5/10

A very good flick.

Train to Busan - 8/10

Korean zombie film set on a train. Don't let the subtitles put you off or that it has fast moving zombie's. This is one of the better one's out there.

The accountant. Even though I hate Ben Aflick I have to say this film was brilliant with all the twists and turns and the end was a real surprise. 9/10 from me.

Miss Peregrine's home for Peculiar Children - was surprisingly good, did not expect much going into this and ended up with a big smile when it finished. Very good acting all round.

8/10.

Rogue One - Different to the others - Better than the rest Bar Original and Empire Strikes Back 8.75/10
Enders Game - Silly but has a few moments of interest - 5.5/10
Spectral - via netflix - 4.5/10 I'll say no more

Rogue One - can there be Star Wars with no Jedi? Yes there can! It maybe dragged a little but finished with a boom! Loved the nods to the original
(except for the Dr Evazan ("I don't like you either") which seemed contrived as a few hours later everyone in the city was dead)

Anyway, will watch again soon 4/5

I watched Kubo and the Two Strings a while ago and can wholeheartedly agree with Phate's comments. Stunning film.

Rogue One

9/10

If that's the quality of the Star Wars stories going forward sign me up.

Was totally fantastic (aside from the ropey CGI but I understand why they did that), Vader, oh boy they sure have fans what they want.

It's just a shame we have the blemishes of 1/2&3, shame they weren't like this.

Rogue One

Maybe a 5 /10.

Thought the humour was forced, the characters were in the large part annoying. Filled in some gaps between the films which was great, but overall i thought it was pretty rubbish.

Bridget Jones's Baby. 2/10 - need I say more.

The Shallows 6.5/10 - ok film, but just didn't hold me or make me feel for the lead character.

10 Cloverfield Lane 6/10 - Again an OK film, bit slow the get going but once it did I started to enjoy it more

My God! Really!?

I thought it was excellent having watched it this afternoon. Character building in the first 45 mins was a bit slow but that last hour was awesome.

Up there with the originals. Easily. And I saw Jedi in the cinema back in '83 so I'm qualified to say that.:D

As someone else said, makes up for the I,II,III and VII! All of which have been disappointing.

Still, horses for courses I guess.

Hail, Caesar!

I honestly don't think I can even rate it. It's a Coen brothers film, so chances are that for a lot of people that's all they need to know. It's way over the top and it's a parody of 50s Hollywood so it's a pretty niche type of thing. It's like The Big Lebowski but sillier.

I enjoyed it. I laughed. I just really don't know who I would recommend it to who wouldn't have already seen it.
