Majoroty of posts in this thread tells me that the terrorists are accomplishing their goals ("terror") and the media fear-mongering is also doing its job.
3 years running we've went to various destinations in the lakes in august for between 10-14 days and had 2 days rain. Red hot, loads to do, quicker, cheaper it's perfect.

Travelling on your own and taking kids and a wife are completely different. I wouldn't risk a Muslim holiday.

I would love to go and see places like Petra and Ankor but would rather do so on my own rather than part of a package.(Probably not the Pyramids however, for personal reasons) but sadly, for several reasons, it will probably never happen![]()
This. when I was growing up it was all about the IRA but no one seemed to pay it much attention and carried on with their lives. Now people are scared to go to Hurghada lol
I felt Safer in the backstreets of the city Hurghada than pretty much any British town centre at night. Not to mention the tourist areas are cordoned off by roadblocks with armed guards etc
To the OP: take your kids somewhere with culture as an educational experience so they don't grow up like these Islamaphobic numpties.
How about Croatia?
That place is amazing.
Enjoy being a traitor and an enemy of the people*

Whilst I agree, and for the last couple of years our family holidays have been in the UK, you can't really say the muddy brown waters of the lakes are anywhere near in the same league as the crystal blue of the Med or Adriatic

Tenerife is great for the kids especially player de Las Americas , loads of play parks within pub view.![]()
Second this, plus you have siam park what is a very good water park what the kids will love. and there is all Loro Parque what is a very good day out. (only down side to Loro Parque is the Whale and Dolphinshow what is excellent but i found out after we had been about there treatment of the animals.) Apart from that both are great days out with the family. We have been twice as a young family in recent years.
All the Canary Islands are a good call to be honest, but can't truly comment on the family holiday aspect as we have been the other yet.
Rhyl is boring. Be more creative.

Absolutely this, beautiful sea, beautiful women, great food, cheap beer. The only thing really missing is sandy beaches, but to be honest, a rocky coastline is far more interesting anyway!
