Tough. The laws of the land will protect them if they feel they are being mistreated, they know this, they have the option.

As we're so proud of saying, it's a free country. You can't protect people from their own stupidity.

And you're utterly naive if you believe that. Did the laws of the land protect any of the 12 confirmed honour killings in the UK last year?

I usually steer clear of these types of discussions on here, but Christ, this is getting bad. There are far, far too many apologists on here. Islam, as it stands, it not just a religion, its a culture that gives women limited rights and homosexuals absolutely zero rights (including the right to live), at least in the Middle East.

We've had #prayfororlando, #prayforparis, #prayfornice, etc. Sooner or later it's going to be #prayforlondon. When Sadiq Kahn says that the threat of a terrorist attack is "part and parcel of living in a major city", you know that us in the west have become weak. With that being said, I'm not supporting going to war with the Middle East or anything like that. We just need to stop letting so many unvetted "refugees" into the West. Our values are incompatible with the values of the homeland these "refugees" are fleeing, and they hate us for it.

It's sickening to watch one attack after another, while we twiddle our thumb, cry out "RACIST" against anyone who calls it how it is, and do nothing.

So Muslim women who are under pressure to adhere to these courts are simply 'stupid' if they chose to not desert their family/community?

If only life were that simple.

Are you suggesting that said honour killing are legal under UK law?

No but you're suggesting that British law makes people immune to them.

"Tough. The laws of the land will protect them if they feel they are being mistreated, they know this, they have the option."

See...right there.

There are literally laws to protect people if they are being mistreated by anyone.

Perhaps you need to re-read the post you quoted otherwise explain what laws protect you from your family disowning you or the rest of your community disowning you?

The fact of the matter is that these 'courts' are not legally binding in any sense of the word and people adhere to them voluntarily.

If they choose family over religious freedom, that's up to them. The other option is pure nanny state intervention.

Ok.

'choosing' isn't always the case given the community/family pressure some are under to conform

So... where do you mention communities or families disowning someone? Nowhere.

You can get legal help if you are being 'pressured' (implying against their will) to do something.

What attack after attack? Most of them were done by citizens. There are reports that the Pakistani the Germans arrested is not connected to the attacks afterall so this may be a citizen attack as well. Why target refugees when the problem lies elsewhere? What do you propose to do about the citizens?

While in principle I'd generally not want the state to intervene and think that usually people should be free to agree to whatever arbitration services they'd like I don't think this is very realistic with some of these courts. Just dismissing it as a simple choice is very detached from the reality some of these women face.

The same can be said for Christianity and many other major religions. Women and homosexuals have always been treated poorly, it's not just Islam. A lot of religious people are still very much against homosexuality and have a quick read of the Bible and see what rights women have (I'll give you a hint, it's pretty much identical to the Quran)

In my country, where 80% of people are atheist and there are extremely tiny amount of religious people (let alone islamists), there have been zero terrorist attacks like this.

The same could be said about Poland but where over 80% is Catholic, the common theme is the tiny amount of islamists. They are so low in Poland that Jo Cox's husband was complaining that immigration knows them all by name.
