There was actually cows on site, the course took place on a venue hired by the people who runs the course on a farm.

So today I had a job interview. At a place literally at the end of my road which would be cool as it will save £100+ a month in fuel to nearly everywhere else.

All xmas shopping done and delivered *ho ho ho*.

Might have a lie in tomorrow then wash the car. No point getting a job now until after xmas. The class 2 HGV license was a waste of time as all require experience. Had more interviews in clerical work....
 
Its hard, looking in the mirror, and not recognizing the person looking back at you...

Maybe they were right. :(
 
The logic of work.

I get presented with a reasonably complex problem with no obvious solution and simply get told to "figure it out"

So I spend 2 days figuring out a solution, then another day documenting it. I send the document to my superior to give it a once over before giving it to the rest of IT, and for some reason I decided to copy in the original requester, this is my mistake :rolleyes:

- Original requester pipes up (who knows nothing of IT) "looks complex, can't we have a system which just does X"
- Me "it does do just X"
- Him "but this document is 22 pages long, I only want it to do X"
- Me "yes, and that's exactly what it does!"
- Him "why is it so complex?"
- Me "Most IT systems are"
- Him "email isn't, you open Outlook and away you go, can't we make it simpler?"
*sigh*
- Me "Tom, as you know you're trying to get 3 different bits of software across 2 different platforms to talk to each other and synchronise without issues, I originally advised you that the easiest solution would be to buy some laptops which are not running windows XP"
- Him "yeah, but you can make it work"

Facepalm...oh so hard.

Anyhow, pro-tip: next time just send in the executive summary, and see if that's enough. 9/10, it is.

Well next time I'll just not copy in the stakeholder and simply tell them "we're ready" next time. He doesn't need to know things that hurt his small brain.
