lol. Point taken. It has been my experience though, that you can pretty much get what's going to work best, and despite the OH's initial attitude, they quickly come around when they realise that you have actually supplied them with the correct tool for the job.
SUV's, like the ones being considered, generally have rather small boot-space. That's the problem with them. I looked at loads when trying to "upsize" from the 5 series, and most of the SUV's we looked at were just comical. The likes of the Q5 being the worst. Even the back of the smaller 7 seaters (well, 5+2's) like the Discovery Sport aren't really much bigger than the back of a 5 series touring.
But, if you do go for some small-mid sized SUV, if it has the third row seating at all, the boot may be manageable. If it's a straight up 5 seater, then you'll always wish you had more boot space.
