Buy PS4 Slim and NOT PS4 Pro?

Pro the price difference is too small not to, regardless of the 3 games unless there games you really want and can't wait for maybe just get 1 game? Very had a deal on pro recently where it only cost 300 not 350

I'm struggling to justify buying a PS4 Pro. Ideally I'd like to buy the console tomorrow to treat myself over the Christmas break.

The PS4 Pro 1 TB + No Games = £350.00

The PS4 Slim 1TB + 3 Games = £280.00

I won't be upgrading my 1080p TV until 2018 at the earliest.

Fair enough. Doesn't change my opinion, though. Both FFXV and The Last Guardian can't maintain 30 fps on the standard model (which is crazy however it's cut!) and are rock solid on the Pro. I suspect this will become increasingly common as things move forward. I have a 1080p screen btw and upgraded to the Pro purely for stable/higher frame rates and better VR. I'll be getting a 4K tv at some point next year, but will likely end up running games that have a 1080p/60 option over 4k/30 anyways.

So I just bought a PS4 Slim + 3 games + additional control pad for £328.45.

The games are quite old ones though: DriveClub, Uncharted 4, Ratchet and Clank.

Next year I might want to do VR. I hear it's okay on the PS4 Slim but better on the PS4 Pro. Let's see how that turns out.

Not bad tbh.

£328.45 wouldn't even buy me a PS4 Pro (and then need to buy games and an additional control pad and PS4 Pro membership)!

Hasn't there also been reported issues where the pro runs games in 1080p worse than a regular PS4??

I think most of those games have had patches to fix this. The problem now is some games are not getting much benefit if you have the Pro connected to 1080p TV. Super sampling has been removed from some games or not even offered as an option.

Doh! should have gone Pro then ;)

Awaits the next thread sometime: I sold my PS4 for a Pro which I should have bought in the first place! :p

Would have gone with a Pro to be honest, especially if you didn't have a PS4.

I upgraded to the Pro for a standard PS4 and gifted it to my little brother who has been wanting one. I've not looked back, improvements in some games and i fully expect more down the line with new games coming out with better fps/resolutions etc.

Price is the issue. I set myself an arbitrary budget of £300 to buy a new console.

I think it's disgusting £350 buys you just a PS4 Pro and no games.
Then you spend £50 on a game.
Then you spend £50 on a control pad to play with your wife.
Then you spend £50 on membership to play with strangers on the internet.

By the time you get setup what should have been a £350 console is now a £500 console.

lolwut

Can't take your over inflated prices seriously..

I'd expect some deals on the Pro next Easter, in line with release of new TVs

Eh wut lol your prices are all wrong. Well unless you shop at game! Plus is nearer 30 and most games atm are sub 30. Pads are 35-40 you could have got a pro for less than 350 too

£350 for the hardware in the Pro is an insanely good deal too. How much use we'll get out of it is another question, but my eyes with the Last Guardian are grateful already!

People slamming the pro for being a waste of money, either don't have a 4K tv, or don't have a pro.

It's worth the extra couple of quid regardless of having a 4K tv or not.

This time of the year is perfect for finding all those things reduced in price. Besides I think some games - Uncharted 4 included? - benefit from extra visual fidelity at 1080 with the Pro along with the obvious 4K mode too if you have the telly.

Return it, get the better toy. You know you want to, it's Christmas :D

Or maybe people have a little sense and can see the point in not having a Pro if the buyer doesn't have a 4K TV.

I have a 65" 4K TV and went back to XB over PS as the Pro is inferior to the XB1S. Though the OP has already bought the Slim so this thread is irrelevant.
