***The Official OcUK Lego Thread***

What do you expect no r&d no planning , safety and structure testing. Designers. Clone the moulds and press a button

I won't harp on but I can't wait until they are stutters down

And I am massively surprised that any Lego fans have anything to do with this illegal bunch or money makers

I dunno. I'm on the fence with this one. I can see your point of view, but I can also see the point of view of wanting to build some of Lego's greatest sets without having to blow thousands of pounds on them. Nobody should be denied the magic that is LEGO, and let's be honest, Lepin is probably a drop in the ocean for them.

I'm sure you have never bought a cheaper knock off of anything from China or ebay etc. Or any other 3rd party knock off.

I don't have to like it, but I'm not about to lie and say I haven't bought cheaper Iphone car mounts, cases, third party batteries or whatever else.

I think this is very different from buying unofficial iPhone car docks.

I'm pretty sure that it wont be long before it becomes illegal and outlawed.

Personally speaking I have no interest in the Star Wars stuff but I can see the attraction to those that do and their need to fulfill a wish , and without winning the lottery.

I've been hankering after the 8043 excavator but there's no way on earth that I'd pay £300 plus for a brand new one. They were going for around £100 new just before they were retired.

The parts to do a bricklink build are also just as silly money. Lego are out of stock on a few of the major elements of this kit and the price for those has now sky rocketed. I kind of object to that. £16 - £20 for the stickers and £7 - £10 for one of those tapered fairing pieces? You can whistle.

Not in China, they blatantly copy everything and anything and then just put a different logo on it. Have you seen their BMW knock offs?

Their government isn't interested either when Western companies sues in their court, 99% of them gets thrown out.

Customs are already seizing them in Germany , France and Italy. It wont be long before it happens here too.

Apparently sellers are now not shipping with the manuals or an outer box. Just a bag of bits.

It's happening.

I am glad as I prefer lego to stay in business and these knock off can only hurt them. In the long term it is only a good thing to have lego forever than cheap knock offs temporally.

Why because you love one company and not the other? We all do it.

Exactly, they rip off everything they can. A320 went missing and they tore that up, look at their f16 clone. They are locusts but we keep on buying the stuff so they keep serving it up.

They can't do anything about it if they sell it that way. Tbh if I was buying it that's how I would want it anyway. I wouldn't be buying it to make money, just to build as they set was no longer available. Lego could crush it by selling it the same way. No box but all the parts in bags with a PDF set of instructions and stickers. The original owners would still have the boxes but you could buy what you wanted for a more reasonable price. They are going to have to move with the times and feed that desire.

It's not going to hurt them that much right now, people mostly want the sets Lego don't make any more. I doubt I'd buy anything still in production.

Not the same thing mate. Do not justify it.

What happens is this rip off stuff gets ciruclated and mixed up with the real stuff. I like to buy job lots of official Lego and many many times I will find knock off stuff mixed in.

You know it's not right so don't work an angle to make it right

Wow, that Lepin stuff. Even the logo. Such a shame, I won't buy it even if it's almost identical. I grew up with Lego and will support them for my own kids too.

My nephew is 4 now and I've been buying him the City range and building it for him. He loves it until he breaks it apart but then builds something else. I don't love near so when I came up for Christmas and his first words were to come and look at his latest creation. It was ace to find the police lorry and it's accessories had been built into something else. Love seeing his mind all creative.

I've only been into Lego for a short while and not built much stuff. TBH I can't remember seeing a Lego motif on any of the parts of the Mobile Crane I built last week.

When I was looking for that 42009 I saw a couple of kits go on Ebay without manuals or a box for almost £200.

It's a jungle out there.

Of course it's the same, any time china takes a product and pattern copies it after someone has designed it, it's the same. If you buy that stuff you are supporting it. It doesn't matter what it is, Lego, Iphone mount that someone has designed or Canon flash. They reverse engineer, copy and sell it cheaper. I wonder what percentage of ebay sales rely on it!
