Overwatch

Ana is the perfect example of a character that can easily outplay and carry without getting any medals except healing done.

I've had some great games as Mei, so disruptive, even the enemy has voted for me, but you can't get as many medals as Soldier or some of the other bigger damage dealers.

I think all players that are new to competitive are going to get told off by their team mates, I know I did for the first 30 or so rank matches.

Without sounding rude you probably aren't the best player on your team. Medals don't really show who is the best. Soldier will always get gold damage and elims even if he's not doing so great for example.

So what is the point of the medal system?
I know it does change in-game depending on how well I'm doing myself.

Or does it work differently to how I think?

Another point is even when we have a 76 on my team I'm doing more damage as D.va or roadhog.
Which is why I think I'm being teamed up with the wrong people.

Medals are not always a good thing for example I was playing road hog getting golds for healing my self and taking most damage but this isn't always a good thing as I understand it now the more hits your taking the more you are charging up your opponents ult.

So it's actually giving you a gold in charging up your opnents ult.

I just got the game aswell so could be wrong.

I have just stop playing for a few days. Still off my original rating by 500 and dropping. Games were pubs auto lock dps often precede defeat before we even start.

Lost count the number of times, when there's a combinations of Genji, Hanzo, Mcree, junkrat, widow, bastion in the first 5 picks. This hasn't happened once but repeated times where I am trying my best to fit roles that no one else is prepared to fulfil, for the good of team play. You are left either to heal or tank which can only help so much. So fustrating when you solo queue. Nevermind getting back to Plat, I will be lucky to stay as silver/bronze at this rate.

I hope my trend changes soon and my effort and gameplay contribution evens itself out like you mentioned H2FScott.

Did you get placed into plat after your 1st 10 placements?

If so, don't worry about it. The system doesn't accurately place you after 10 games, especially if this is your 1st season. Don't think that you're dropping, think of it as getting adjusted to where you belong. Being silver when you've first started playing is not a bad thing at all. It's where everyone starts.

Yes but I felt I earned it. Won 8/10 placement games. It's my first season but i don't think the system can accurately reflect skill level if your unlucky enough to be paired with players that don't care about team play or don't get team composition. So hard to accept silver or bronze based on some of the games I had previously and the time spent watching and researching material.

Hey anyone know if there is an easy way to bind jump to 2 different buttons on my controller?

I switched jump to left thumbstick which is better for close quarters fighting but would prefer the still use the A button for walking round.

Thanks

As much as it doesn't feel like it, and as Scott is hinting at above - if you play enough games this all averages out; you'll play against teams who have crap players just as much as you get put on teams with crap players...

If you read back through this thread you'll see plenty of occurences of people (myself included!) being at the "I just give up with this game" phase, but you'll get past it... Remember to take a break from comp once you get tilted (a few weeks back I went on a massive losing streak bender from 2800SR to under 2000SR and I am still yet to fully recover - back to ~2500SR at this point)

Thanks Rufus. That is really encouraging and what I am clinging my hope to, to try and tough it out.

I'm exactly the same, said I had enough too.

A rule thats worked out for me (went from 2370 SR to 1700 SR, now back up to 2050 SR) is that if you have 2 losses in a row leave comp and go to arcade or something. Go back to comp later or the next day :).

For me the ranking system should not be a big driver for enjoying the game, but I do play with some people who care more about winning than straight up having fun.

Sometimes it's refreshing playing BF1 instead because nothing really matters there, it's just good old fashioned fun, and tbh I'll never reach the top, nor would I really want to even if I could.

By winning/losing games it will just modify who you play against accordingly, which I think is fine, and the point of the system to give more even matches is achieved.

The bad news, there's been an update... I joined and played a game fine, then it appears lots of people having problems not being able to join games, myself included.

The good news... in perhaps my last Winter Wonderland Loot Box (shouldn't it have ended yesterday?) I finally got Mei-rry!

Lets hope I'm still playing Mei next Christmas I guess...

I swear every time I play competitive they put the most stupidest tw*ts on my team

If anyone wants to add me to play please do i'm 'riz'.

I've gone from silver to bronze in one night due to the people i'm playing with :mad:

I seem to have found some new buddies. They've invited me the last two nights and generally we've been on a decent winning streak. Just played 3 games with them, won 2, drew 1. It does make a big difference playing with some people that are happy to work as a team. Oh, and they need to be reasonably good too :)

Reinhart on attack and Symetra on defence seems to be a lot of fun and winning me matches.
I didn't really like Reinhart at first found him bit boring but now I love charging through their defence and trying to smack the whole team around with the giant hammer.
The shield gen is working well for my sym as long as I put it somewhere safe I got it for the whole game and the extra health means can play aggressive and get stuck in.

Anyone else a bit disappointed that they stripped out the Mystery Heroes mode with this new update? :( It was my go to option for a more chilled experience just slowly learning all of the heroes.
