Is it possible to buy a 1 day ticket online to the Disney and Universal theme parks?
Looking around myself online I can only find sites offering 7+ day tickets, which are approx £230 per person, per park.

Is there an option to buy 1 day park entry at the park?

I last went in 2009 when the prices and exchange rate were not quite so poor

Yes, but its really not cheap.

I think Sea World ended up costing over $100 for two of us on the day.

I know the parks are expensive, but I wasn't expecting to pay £2k for entry into Disney and Universal parks. Your example of $100 dollars for two adults is pocket change in comparison :D

Attraction Tickets Direct but also, if you are chancy, you can go to local supermarkets and malls and get day tickets from there.

Unless you have really young kids, Disney's magic kingdom and Epcot centres aren't really that interesting. MGM studios is ok but still has some old rides.

Universal is much better IMO

We spent Christmas day 2014 in Universal and it was great.

You sure that's right? The park hopper tickets cover all of the parks.

I think ours were ~£450 each for all of Disney and Universal + Sea World.

Disney on its own I think was about £280 per person.

Epcot is better than you think. Eat and drink yourself around the world... You can do wine flights from France + Italy + Germany, margaritas in Mexico... plus a few more. The fireworks are worthwhile, but realistically Epcot is a half day/evening.

My son is 5 years old :)

By 'Per Park' I meant Disney = £320 and Universal = £234 each (approx).

There are 6 Disney parks included, but I only want to visit 2 of them across 2 days. I don't need a 14 day pass for 6 parks.

Also, it doesn't affect us but a child is classed a 3-9 years old. So a 10 year old pays adult prices - hmmmm

Personally I'd say 5 is a bit young for the Florida parks. Have you looked at Disney Paris?

We took a 4 year old to Disney and she loved it. Still remembers it now.

Wouldn't bother taking a really young kid to Universal though as all they really have is Minions.

We have been twice before - 2007 and 2009 with my partners sister's family whoose daughter was 18 months and 3 years old. She is now 10 and can remember things from her 2nd trip.

I was thinking the same about Universal - there wasn't much there for young children when I went in 2009.
Islands of Adventure looks good for a 5 year old - Marvel Super Hero Island, wow :)

As awful as Disneyworld Florida appears to me (it will be chav central), if the £2000 is a concern right now why not consider one of the plethora of 0% credit card deals to split the cost?

This is probably what a lot of the other people who go there will do :p

It's nothing like chav central, not even close. Me and my girlfriend are on decent wages and it isn't something we'd do every year due to the cost

Because it's popular some people label it as chav when those of us who have actually been find it be nothing of the sort.
I didn't like it personally but it certainly wasn't 'chav'.
