I heard the MSI version was the best but maybe Zotac also good, I went with the EVGA one because it looked cool and they have a good reputation but apparently a certain component on the card is likely to overheat and set on fire![]()
Was about to pull the trigger on the Asus 1070 today and price has jumped £100![]()
Imagine it was probably incorrectly listed at 359 as the majority of trusted places have been selling them for 450-470 for a while.
It wasn't incorrectly listed as I got one. Plus it clearly was correct as it even stated it had been lowered for a certain membership level.
I was about to get one of these too but just seen the £100 price jump. Too late, Oh well.
The normal AMP edition uses exactly the same method of VRM cooling - a small finned heatsink that is not physically part of the main heatsink. It's very likely that the AMP edition VRM temperatures are higher than cards that cool the VRMs with the main heatsink. There is an advantage to having a seperate heatsink though, possibly slightly lower GPU temperature.
I've seen data from Gigabyte end with having a seperate heatsink on the VRM and second hand air blown over the top to having it all in the one main heat sink.
give about 2c increase in core temp as all thermal load is spread across the heatsink making it warm and more fan presence needed but VRM temps are about 10-15c cooler .
Makes for great marketing but they dont really release those details which is a shame.

+1so moral of the story is buy when you see a price you like, without delay![]()
