Card for 1440p

You chose a Fury X over a 1070 :eek: Hope it was REALLY cheap

Average FPS on BF1 has a 1070 about 6 FPS faster than a Fury X @ 1440P (DX 11) and I am guessing that the Fury X he picked up is somewhat less than a 1070 and therefore good value for money in comparison. ;)

i picked up a furyx for almost £200 less than a 1070 lets just say that, i dont want to throw £££££ at my pc anymore im happy with 60-90 fps at least medium to high

Yes but what about future games that will favour the 1070

Its a great time to buy the Fury X and is way better in terms of bang for buck over a 1070 and ist very far off a 1070 in terms of FPS, solid 1440p card but takes a lot more power. As for future games in most benches between the two cards on DX12 the Fury X has won out.

how would a Fury X handle a 1440p monitor does anyone know ?

I have a Nano which is furyx core.
Runs fine with freesync monitor especially, and everything maxed out. (2 AA)

And is far better experience compared to gtx1080 without gsync.

Where? Trying to find one to CF and cannot find one for less than 400!

If you get a G-SYNC monitor go for a 1070, even if you hit below 60fps on Ultra you won't notice it thank to the magic. I play at 1440p with my 970 and BF1 gets around 70FPS on Ultra/High settings. When it drops do 50FPS I don't notice it.

Strange as I can tell immediately :D

Fury here as well, half unlocked shaders, custom bios also with a BenQ XL2730Z.
(i73770K @4.4GHz, 16GB @2133MHz, Win10 x64)

Runs BF1 fine at 1440p.

Though last time I tested it I still found DX11 better than DX12 in it. But tbh haven't gone back and re-tried DX12 - probably since launch - as DX11 has been great.

GTAV - i can't remember if I ever ran it at 1440p on the monitor as most of the time I was playing it at 1080 via the TV so I could crash on the couch with a pad.

Dying Light, I;ve never played though I recently completed Doom and started Titan Fall 2, both ran/running fine.

I know the Fury (and AMD) get a lot of stick on here but buying the Fury and the BenQ at the same time was a great upgrade for me and have been v.happy with it.

Cost me less than my mate who bought a 1080 and a 1440p Dell and playing BF1 side by side I'm not sure you'd notice the difference, let alone the difference in cost.

That and the ReLive drivers giving me a nice bump in all my BM scores. :)

Thanks gents. I think I'm going to hold out for the 1080ti and get myself a nice super wide IPS monitor.

I may even go the full hog and get new CPU, Motherboard and RAM.

One other question is it actually worth upgrading my 4970k i7 for Kaby Lake?
I currently have it clocked at 4.5Ghz and theres plenty left if needed I think.

Well If you are happy with what you have at the moment and it is all running fine then I would say that it was a good time to wait to see what Ryzen brings to the table as well as Vega.

If it turns out that it is of no concern then you can then upgrade to your chosen mobo, Processor and ram....maybe even graphics card. You may even save a few sheckles in the process.

I certainly wouldnt be rushing out to upgrade anything right now, this close to so many new products about to become available.
:)

Yeah I was thinking that way. Hoping with with the new AMD it may introduce a little price competition although not holding my breath too much. I am thinking April/May time maybe as late as June is going to be the right time for me. I just hate waiting.

I used to play in 1440p (ASUS MG279Q 27 inch 144Hz) on a Asus 390x Strix Oc. Had no problems.
Sadly the GPU had problems and I'm getting a replacement, the Sapphire Fury Nitro.
Very good GPU from the reviews I've read. Very good price at this moment as well.
I still might switch to VEGA when it comes but I don't think I will have problems in 1440p.

I was considering getting a 390X or Fury, but the Fury was actually cheaper (new at least) and seemed to perform better in most games despite having less VRAM. The 390X might be cheaper used though.

In the end I think I'll just wait for Vega. :D
