'happens due to an acute case of malnutrition'. - The mother has to take responsibility she should have eaten properly.

That child has no chance of survival but the op, newspaper and most involved show a disgusting lack of humanity. I don't have high hopes for any proper palliative care given the report and the environment that baby is in.

At least the newspaper get some hits with a modern 'freak show' story though .

Harlequin ichthyosis. Nasty.
At the end of the day it's still a human being no matter what it looks like. There are many people who survive this with the right care.

I have edited the thread title to be a more accurate description of the topic rather than the clickbait it was.

Humanity, sometimes things go wrong, if it's in any way suffering it's s cruel to keep it alive, they agree it won't last long so why prolong it.

Thanks for asking me.

Well calling the baby 'Alien baby' was not just arse-end-of-facebook-click-bait, but it is insensitive and makes light of the unfortunate condition.

It was the title of the newspaper article. Come give me a hug, I'm such a nice person and love hugging peoples! :)

Agree with the comment regarding the disgusting lack of humanity shown.

Sure, the child won't last long and I agree if he/she is in pain then euthanasia is the best, but comments like "incinerate it" and "alien baby" are pretty insensitive.

Genetics are a big roll of the dice. Everyone is at risk of having a child with a serious condition such as this.

It's not certain this child won't last long. Survival is improved with treatment and long term survival is possible.

This child has aright to life regardless of the parents wishes in that situation. It can be exceptionally hard to decide the best course of action in these exceptional cases. Usually the court will be involved.

I am well aware of the loss of a child due to a rare genetic disorder but also the fact that having one doesn't make you a freak, alien or demon deserving of incineration. Any life should be treated with respect and dignity and yes, suffering should be prevented but that doesn't have to mean an immediate death with no chance.

The lack of parental understanding and medical led care is the key factor for that child regardless of the outcome, one that is sadly influenced by the society around it. The attitude in reporting and some of the responses to it is a whole other matter.

It was the title of the newspaper article. Go hug a tree.

Lol

I am not heartbroken over whatever you called the thread, just telling you that mods don't need permission to change a thread title even if it was copy and pasted directly from an click-bait crap article.

I am sorry if people not asking for your permission hurts your delicate sensitivities :)

This is truly horrific and seeing that child genuinely pains my heart.

As a new parent myself, I can only imagine what the parents of the baby are going through :(

Some people need some compassion and humility.
