I think its fake :( not double checked but the thumbnail looks like the fake from a few months back.

I'd really love to see a redux of TDU2 - that game/engine had so much untapped/unused potential and wouldn't take much tweaking to make some things 10x better.

Won't be a pre-order for me unless I see compelling evidence that whoever picks up the rights gets what made TDU2 so great as well as where it needed improvement.

Pretty sure Eden went bump didn't they? As much as I'd like a TDU3, it won't happen.

As said, above, spiritual successors are The Crew and Forza Horizon (3 only on PC), though IMO "The Crew" is a bit weak, and "Forza Horizon" is focused mainly on "racing" rather than having the variety of jobs like car delivery, courier, etc. In many ways Forza Horizon is more akin to a Need For Speed type game (Underground, Rivals, etc).

Neither is really a successor - they both do a chunk of what TDU2 did but different bits and neither has the broad experience of TDU2. I think a lot of people under-rate TDU2 because they jumped in for a specific experience found that shallow and stopped playing rather than embracing what the game was as a whole.

Sums up my experience to be honest.

I wanted deeper gameplay but that is just not what it is.

HOWEVER, for something sold as "Massive Multiplayer"... it was in no way "Massive".

I was only thinking about TDU2 the other day. Can you still play it with the dev going boobs up? Are the servers still online?

Fake, Eden did indeed go under and took the rights to the name with them.

As said above, The Crew and Forza Horizon 3 are the same open world multiplayer games, the crew is fun but Forza Horizon 3 is absolutely brilliant, but you need Win10 and has performance issues.

I recommend getting the The Crew on the cheap from key site (Uplay needed btw) and hang on for a Win10 store sale on Forza

Registration servers have been on the blink a lot lately so buying it now is a bit of a lottery if a new purchaser can get it to work - but the game servers were still up other than the odd 2-3 days of downtime - I've not played it in about a month though so it might not still be the case. Should still be able to play it in offline mode if you have an existing registration though.

There are some unofficial ways of getting it going as well but most of them don't try to remove the original DRM just work alongside it - they also unlock/fix a ton of content that is there in the game but not normally exposed some of it is really good but I'm a bit leery of how free of any malware, etc. it might be.

Someone really should step in and release a version of it that will guarantee to work going forward :(

EDIT: Looks like the servers are royally shafted at the moment with bits of the map not working, weird lighting syncing and NPCs acting out weirdly.

I can't see a full TDU game coming out anytime soon, especially not to the quality you expect. Now that Atari has sold the rights to this random publisher the IP no doubt will be used for an iOS/Android game as they won't have a large enough budget for a console title.

Most of Eden went to work at Ivory Tower on the Crew. The rest have been workoing on the new iOS/Android game Gear Club, which looks like TDU mobile without the freeroam and MP :p

Or maybe they did what I did - pre-order it and find out that it was released as v0.6, didn't even work at all for over a week and didn't work properly for quite a while afterwards. That sort of thing puts people off.

I really liked TDU2, but the release version wasn't even a beta. It wasn't even an alpha for the first week since it didn't work at all. It was good when they got it mostly working, though. I played it all the way through, going everywhere, buying everything. Then I went over pretty much all of it again looking for the parts for the Lancia Stratos when that was added and considered that well worth doing for fun.

I'd buy TDU3 if it was released (but I doubt if it will be), but not until later, not until I can see that it's actually finished and working before they released it.
