****** Official World of Tanks OcUK Clan ******

I agree trolling the enemy with stuff like "chill, it's only a game! It really doesn't matter, relax!" - That one never failed to add salt.

So I had an urge to play this again, but can anyone tell me if anything has changed (for the good) since I stopped playing (not far off when WT-E100 was added) ?

Aimed at the old school guys more than anyone else.

Yes and no.

For me the game has improved a great deal over the last few years, but you still get one sided matches and idiots. (but that also describes all online MP games)

Premium tanks are being boosted so they are not considered weaker than normal tanks.

E.g. lowe got more engine and armour, T34 was given less crap gun handling.

Some wonky premiums were added, see Patriot and Skorpion G, disgustingly easy to get damage on due to easy tank handling and amazing gun for the role, they are however semi-rare and only sometimes on sale.

Premium ammo still exists as it was so armour only works when it is at the most obnoxious level. Otherwise shooting a heavy tank through the front plates across the map with mediums is still go.

Some tech trees were added. They have some niches.

Nah nothing really changed.

I'm taking a break at the moment (except for the odd game).

Overall it has got better, but the old broken stuff is generally still broken. Worth jumping in a quick game though to see what you think.

What has been written above is all true. My perception is that a lot of the soft cover has been removed from the maps. More corridor shooting situations. Brawling is prioritorised over soft cover usage at range.

They are considering increasing pen drop-off as range increases as well as increasing the distribution of shots so that more fall towards the edge of the aiming circle. It's supposed to make long range sniping less vaible. In reality it will just make HEAT premium "skill" ammo more important as it has no pen drop-off over range.

So yes WG still skewing the game towards profit and away from proper tank-role gameplay where lights provide vision, meds flank, HTs breakthrough/hols and TDs assasinate. High pen noob ammo going through HT turret fronts is still the problem.

I long for the old days when there were only T10 HTs and powercreep was not such an issue.

OMG

Just had the worst example of moronic idiot play for a long time, if not ever.

Picture the scene. T7 battle, me in my beaten up T6 Swedish med STRV-74 - I've got about 200hp left. There is me and a Tiger also on about 200hp.

It's Erlenberg assault. I'm capping up to 90%, 2 minutes left. The enemy have an E25.

I'm safe and sound in the usual gap between the buildings in the cap circle. XVM tells me the E25 is a one shot kill.

The Tiger tells me 'no cap kill all'. I say no way, that E25 can kill us and we will never even see him, or he can run and we lose.

The tiger PUSHES ME OUT OF THE CAP CIRCLE. I get killed by the E25, then the tiger looks for and never finds the E25. We lose.

I had 1911 damage and 4 kills. The Tiger has 0 kills and 300 damage.

I was probably crosser than I have ever been in this game and that is saying something. Crossness added to when I realised I didn't have replays turned on which means that I couldn't even send in the replay to Jingles....... or WoT customer support and get the cretin banned.

I've uninstalled it. Its like I'm paddling upstream and its no fun.

Since Dec its full of really bad players at all tiers. Instead of making daft changes to the game rules they should match make people up of similar skill level.

I agree - why they can't just make the MM come up with 50:50 (+/- 5) win chance games I have no idea.

I'm NOT talking MM games of all 43% noobs, just a mix up. For every unicum on one side there is one on the other. Or they get a 60% player we get 3 55%.

But being roflstomped in a bottom tier tank by a platoon of 3 55% players is just no fun at all.

That and my old humbugs of GET RID OF PREMIUM AMMO, GIVE US SOFT COVER BACK, STOP THE STUPID CORRIDOR MAPS and STOP the DAFT POWER CREEP.

That is all.

What is it with some tanks......

STRV-74 T6 Swedish tank WN8 1821 with a 67% win rate
IKV-65 Alt 2 Swedish TD WN8 1785 with a 51% Win rate

By way of comparison:

E25 win rate 51.3% but a WN8 of 2091

I just cannot understand how by all measures my WN8 performance has no correlation to win rate. Surely my E25 win rate should be higher with that WN8 ?

All tanks have over 50 games and I never play in platoons. Can someone explain ?

wn8 has nothing to do with winning.

The people who created wn8 have a list of expected performance values for each tank, mostly its about damage and assisted damage. Capping points and some other stuff counts too I think.

The better you do compared to the expected value the higher your wn8.

If the tank is faceroll easy to get damage in then the expected value will be high and you will have to do extremely well to pull off a high wn8.

If the tank is difficult to play or has a big difference in power between premium and normal rounds you can get a much better than expected result by tryharding with it and that gives you a high wn8.

Bottom line is wn8 is based on your contribution in the battle and not whether you won or not.

I think the key message here is that there are differing levels of contribution. Sniping damage that leaves enemies on 90% health may well give you a 'god game' but result in a loss when the enemy caps out and you do nothing to stop it.

Equally, there will be games when you sacrifice your light tank to stop a cap and give the heavies time to get there and win. 90 cap points saved, 300 damage and *you* enabled the win.

Good answer - cheers.

This is exactly why people hunting stats all day can be a problem more than anything. I have seen people hiding in corners unwilling to get shot because it might affect their K/D and WN8.

I've seen people with 3000+ WN8 run away from fights they might die in, which results in the enemy capping, just to give themselves slightly better stats.

Depends.

A performance oriented player will be looking for damage and it is completely against their motives to let a game be capped out.

Game ends early with enemy tanks still alive, well that's a lower score.

If someone is actually good at farming spotting and direct damage that will bring a higher winrate for them but for them the win is not as important as the damage results.

That's a problem though in my opinion. Letting your team lose to protect your own damage results just doesn't sit right with me at all.

After all it's a team game and while I know that it rarely ends up that way, it should be based on teamwork.

I've been watching a few videos by Zeven and a lot of what he does is get his team to do the right thing. His mantra seems to be you need to win one side *before* the enemy win the other.
